We talked to Mandy Fard of Market-Connections about professional resume writing services and here is what she said about it
First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?
Mandy Fard: Thank you. We are all doing OK, considering all the adjustments and modifications that 2020 brought into our daily lives.
Tell us about you, your career, how you founded Market-Connections.
Mandy Fard: I founded Market-Connections Professional Resume Writing Services many years ago, as I was working elsewhere full-time as an Executive Recruiter in the Entertainment industry; so, I was dedicating my time to Market-Connections on a part-time basis.
In 2009, our economy experienced very turbulent times in the employment sector, and countless people were unemployed due to an unprecedented recession. That’s when I began to focus full-time on Market-Connections Professional Resume Writing Services.
I leveraged my decades of career counselling and recruiting to help job seekers secure new jobs, and to date, I have written thousands of resumes for them. Our market has expanded, and we are now operating not only in Southern California, but we have also set up an office in Central California.
How does Market-Connections innovate?
Mandy Fard: Indeed, we have had to move on with the times. A few years ago, resumes and job search tools were completely different from what we access today. Over the years, we have continually implemented new strategies and innovative ideas in writing resumes and presenting our clients to the job market. One of the important advancements in our field was the evolution of Application Tracking Systems or ATS, which finds the right keywords for a resume and can have an impact on how each resume is found by search engines online.
Another important change is the art of storytelling. We now describe a client’s career using many storytelling strategies, whereas the writing style in the past was very different.
Most importantly, the design and appearances of resumes have changed dramatically. Considering all the changes that have taken place, we have had to look for and design new ways of presenting data on paper accordingly.
How does the coronavirus pandemic affect your business finances?
Mandy Fard: So many people lost their jobs due to the pandemic and have suffered subsequent damages as a result of this plague.
We had to adjust our services to meet the needs of our clients. So, we quickly modified our fund management strategies and adapted to the changes to exceed our clients’ expectations.
Did you have to make difficult choices regarding human resources, and what are the lessons learned?
Mandy Fard: I am truly grateful to say that we did not face such challenges. Instead, I continued to hire remote help for certain odds and ends. I was busy learning about the new ways of doing business and didn’t have many staffing problems.
How did your customer relationship management evolve? Do you use any specific tools to be efficient?
Mandy Fard: I would say that collaborative project management apps organize and prioritize tasks between team members a lot easier, and we used them for a while. A number of the tools and features available through the Google Docs app have also been helpful.
The two specific strategies I have used have been time management and habit tracking items. Any tool I have used in these areas has been helpful.
Did you benefit from any government grants, and did that help keep your business afloat?
Mandy Fard: No, we didn’t benefit from any government grants.
Your final thoughts?
