How are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?
Mark Buckley: My Family and I are doing fine, and like all others, we are wishing this had never happened and looking forward to a time when we can all return to normal life.
About you, your career, how you founded Mercury Labels Ltd.
Mark Buckley: I have been in sales all my adult life. I have a real gift for it. I set up Mercury Labels Ltd 23 years ago, and the company has been very fruitful from day one.
How does Mercury Labels Ltd innovate?
Mark Buckley: By introducing new systems to help productivity, the introduction of new and interesting products.
How does the coronavirus pandemic affect your business finances?
Mark Buckley: Our business has not really been affected during the pandemic as we started to supply to a lot of cleaning companies, hand sanitizing companies, courier shipping tests and also vaccines.
Did you have to make difficult choices regarding HR, and what are the lessons learned?
Mark Buckley: No. We are a smaller run family business, and luckily we remained as we were before the pandemic.
How did your customer relationship management evolve? Do you use any specific tools to be efficient?
Mark Buckley: By years of business and sales training, we evolve with the business as it evolves.
Did you benefit from any government grants, and did that help keep your business afloat?
Mark Buckley: Yes, we did. We had the normal grants, which helped at the beginning of the first lockdown enormously.
