We talked to Miguel Ángel Del Pino of BR Bars & Restaurants about its ordering and billing app. 

First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times? 

Miguel Ángel Del Pino: We are fine. It was difficult during the quarantine because I have two small children, but now they’re going to school which allows me to focus more on my work.

Tell us about you, your career, how you founded BR Bars & Restaurants.

Miguel Ángel Del Pino: Over the last 18 years, I managed technological projects of different magnitude. I worked on a sporting level with companies such as Real Madrid, Decathlon in Spain and Europe, and Kitbag in the United Kingdom. I must also highlight other companies around the world such as a technology manufacturer with their own brand (MPGtech) in countries such as Hong Kong, China, Austria, Germany, Holland, France, Italy, or Panama. Additionally, I led other projects at the F&B level in Europe and Asia.

My company was born in 2016 when I was in a restaurant with my family, and we had to wait for 30 minutes before receiving the bill. That is when I realized that it was the moment to launch BR Bars & Restaurants. 

How does BR Bars & Restaurants innovate?

Miguel Ángel Del Pino: BR Bars & Restaurants is a digital services management platform for all restaurant and tourism businesses sales channels without commissions or intermediaries in the billing.

Through the BR app, the business digital menu is visible to your customers 24 hours a day and they can place orders and pay safely without any contact. This is done with a single click on their mobile phone, both at the premises or hotel and in delivery and take away orders.

In this way, businesses in the sector save time and costs, avoid staff errors, eliminate queues and crowds, and comply with the safety measures proposed by the authorities, offering users the greatest possible security.

As a result, they will boost consumption, obtain an increase in turnover of up to 25%, and, of course, offer their customers the best and safest experience, generating loyalty and recommendation. 

How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?

Miguel Ángel Del Pino: BR Bars & Restaurants works with the complete Horeca Channel: Hotels, Bars and Restaurants, in order to offer a complete software that digitalizes this sector, and that it’s been one of the most affected by the Covid. 

We offer an excellent tool to avoid physical contact and guarantee the safety distance in times of covid-19 because we offer a powerful tool that digitizes the sector. 

I have learned that great ideas emerge in times of crisis. There are always difficult choices in a startup in their different phases, but attitude is the key to success.

How do you deal with stress and anxiety?

Miguel Ángel Del Pino: As an entrepreneur, it is very important to work hard, exercise control, and learn from mistakes. Over the years, I have realized that there is always a solution for everything and one needs to stay calm each time. In my case, it’s important to have free time with my family and friends as well as engage in sport to relax.

Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?

Miguel Ángel Del Pino: We consider Mr. Noow, Watson, and Mi Carta Digital as our direct competitors. Each one of them offers a part of the service that BR Bars & Restaurants provide. They are an E-commerce where they offer digital menus for ordering and process payment (never by the restaurant), unlike BR Bars & Restaurants that provide a technological platform where the associated restaurants manage and configure their business (menu, payment methods…).

Thus our company offers an extensive range of services.

We are the only app that allows people to order and pay through their mobile phone in all the Horeca channel. Moreover, we are the only one that offers the possibility that several people can order at the same table and pay each one their bill, as well as notify allergens and even receive an invoice if they wish. 

We also include the takeaway and delivery service without extra cost, unlike other companies.

The difference between BR Bars & Restaurants and other digital platforms is that customers pay from the app. The entrepreneur receives the payment directly into his bank account without any commission on sales.

Likewise, we integrate with the management system of the premises (ERP) and with the PMS of the hotels, allowing them to automatically manage all the orders generated by their customers.

BR Bars & Restaurants offers all Horeca services, optimization of times and costs for the hoteliers, as well as a complete experience for the user.
