We talked to Oscar Molina Crivillen, CEO and founder of WOWEGO about online gym, fitness and nuitrition and this is what he said about it.

First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times? 

Molina Crivillen: We´re all fine but concerned because many people are struggling with the sharp and sad consequences of this pandemic from health to economics, as well as difficulties to obtain the much-needed immunity.

Tell us about you, your career, how you founded WOWEGO.

Molina Crivillen: I am a risk-taker. Not only because I have severally changed my company and industry, but also because I was involved in growing organizations and leading business development where intrapreneurship and entrepreneurship were mostly part of the growth strategy. Furthermore, I founded two companies on my own. The last one WOWEGO – gimnasio online, encompass my interest in technology, digital business, and wellbeing

How does WOWEGO innovate? 

Molina Crivillen: Technology application & continuous innovation are two capstones of the same competitive markets today. It´s an observation-focused, 24/7 process with no room for copy & paste models, neither time for hesitation, nor long-lasting implementations. We first try to understand our user´s deepest concerns and believes in tailoring any new feature or decision. Our online gym offers a multi-device, cloud-based fitness platform easing people living a healthier lifestyle through on-demand video classes of fitness, running, yoga, Pilates, dance, or spinning with personal trainers and goal-driven nutrition patterns and advice.

 

How does the coronavirus pandemic affect your business finances?

Molina Crivillen: Pandemic has confined population at home for much more time than desired while health & fitness clubs and studios were forced to close or to open intermittently and with sharp restrictions. These barriers combined with people’s reluctance to go to indoor venues have soared the use of online fitness solutions worldwide to fight, at least for a while, against sedentarism. During 2020 WOWEGO platform use increased roughly by 500 %.

Did you have to make difficult choices regarding human resources and what are the lessons learned?

Molina Crivillen: Fortunately No! We were born totally decentralized, remote-working is in our backbone what allows us to join the best people wherever they are and our team is growing. However, History shows that impactful facts like the one caused by of COVID, somehow change many standards and patterns for the future. And working relationships and habits will shift to a more-rational or sustainable focus.

How did your customer relationship management evolve? Do you use any specific tools to be efficient?

Molina Crivillen: WOWEGO is a startup, which means that every single day is a data-driven exploration-discovery journey. Through our systems, we try to find patterns or anomalies to improve conversion and retention rates. Our CRM, data analytics, and marketing automation tools are used on a daily basis

Your final thoughts?

Molina Crivillen: Post-covid era, climate change, and polarized economies will change many rules while speeding up digitalization, technology adoption, and new markets. I think this is the time when strategic decisions and new opportunities alike will come up.
