We talked to Pascal Asselin, CEO, and founder of Formalizi, about entrepreneurship and this is what he said about it.
First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?
Pascal Asselin: It changes how people interact, and we lose the contact I deeply love. It’s becoming hard, but honestly, I can’t really complain. I still see my friends, the health of my family, my friends and mine is good.
Tell us about you, your career, and how you founded Formalizi.
Pascal Asselin: I am still a student! I founded my company during my gap year to help entrepreneurs with all legal matters. I wanted to start my own company but didn’t have any idea about how to do it legally. So I created the offer and service I dreamt about.
How does Formalizi innovate?
Pascal Asselin: We help entrepreneurs with all legal matters by creating simple and intuitive workflows so that they don’t have to worry about it. Inside the company, we simplify all our processes and make them scalable.
How does the coronavirus pandemic affect your business finances?
Pascal Asselin: It’s ok, people still start their company in France. It is so encouraging to see so many people believing in our near future and to see opportunities in these Covid19 days instead of seeing issues. We love to go with this dynamic and to make it even more accessible.
Did you have to make difficult choices regarding human resources and what are the lessons learned?
Pascal Asselin: Yes, I had to separate from 3 people, which was a hard time… Several lessons about the recruitment process and the best time to do it. You have to choose: suffer from a lack of human resources or anticipate and hire with the risk of having a decrease in the activity (with such crisis for instance). Great lessons about human relationships in troubled times too: how to interact, and how to keep your motivation at the top when clouds are hiding the sun.
How did your customer relationship management evolve? Do you use any specific tools to be efficient?
Pascal Asselin: We always think about efficiency and customer care so that we optimize our actions with the obligation to satisfy each customer we have. We are improving the way we use Hubspot and the way we reply to our customers (standards, tickets, mailing, Rendez-Vous,)
Did you benefit from any government grants, and did that help keep your business afloat?
Pascal Asselin: No.
Your final thoughts?
Pascal Asselin: Doing what we love is the way we are the most efficient and the happiest people on earth.
