We talked to Paula Monteiro on how Wikitude has been empowering businesses with innovative AR technology since 2008 and is well-known for its reliable products, transparent pricing, market stability, and reachable staff and here is what she said about it.
First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?
Paula Monteiro: This is a challenging but interesting time to innovate and think outside of the box both personally and in work contexts.
Tell us about you, your career, how you joined Wikitude.
Paula Monteiro: I’m Head of Marketing at Wikitude and have been an augmented reality (AR) evangelist for the past 8 years. I advocate for AR for marketing well before the ‘Pokemon Go fever’, and now I get to speak internationally about strategies, best practices, and steps for businesses to successfully implement the technology to achieve measurable results.
How does Wikitude innovate?
Paula Monteiro: By staying really close to the marketing and delivering an augmented reality technology that helps brands and companies solve really complex AR problems with an easy to use tool – the Wikitude SDK
How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?
Paula Monteiro: Covid really fueled the need for augmented reality solutions so we were able to have strategic discussions with enterprises and brands that, had it not been for Covid, would have happened in 3-5 years.
Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?
Paula Monteiro: We were lucky that business developed despite the pandemic. Hence, the team stayed intact, and we were able to take the time to innovate and find the focus that truly helped us make 2020 a productive year.
What specific tools, software and management skills are you using to navigate this crisis?
Paula Monteiro: We’ve recently added scrum to non-technical teams, which has really helped us perform at a higher level and get more clarity on priorities and focus.
Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?
Paula Monteiro: Wikitude is proud to be the leading independent software provider in the AR ecosystem. We truly benefit from Google and Apple’s investments in the ecosystem, because it means more and more people are able to understand the potential of AR. Developers and brands love working with us because our technology is market-proofed, easy to use and accessible. Also, we stay ahead of the competition by providing premium support and making sure companies have us as their partners when trying to solve complex problems using augmented reality.
Your final thoughts?
Paula Monteiro: Having pioneered the augmented reality (AR) industry by launching the world’s first AR-powered mobile application in 2008, today, Wikitude leads the sector of computer vision and spatial computing with its AR technology. We believe the future of AR will be seamlessly integrated into the world around us, with robust head-worn hardware that can make experiences more intuitive and hands-free. We’re excited to drive.
