We talked to Philipp Pfaller of LIMESODA about social media marketing and this is what he had to say about it.

First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?

Philipp Pfaller: Thank you, everything is ok. The had been some trouble organizing planned medical treatments during the first Austrian lockdown in March, but everyone learned to deal with the situation.

Tell us about you, your career, how you founded LIMESODA?

Philipp Pfaller: Our company, the web agency LIMESODA, was founded out of a rock band we used to play in during university. As one of the first bands having a good website, we figured out that it was far better than our music, so we continued building websites. We are still three partners, and the company grew from three to a team of 50 specialists today.

How does LIMESODA innovate?

Philipp Pfaller: We work in agile teams and believe in our strength to learn and adapt. Technologies and services change over time. Expanding our knowledge and improving our abilities is the key to innovation.

How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?

Philipp Pfaller: We see both sides of the medal: On one hand, some of our clients saw breaking away their whole business. Examples are travel agencies, hotels, restaurants, or the event industry; on the other hand, e-commerce and online marketing kind of exploded. For many retailers, the webshop was the only selling point left of omnichannel. And to gain visibility, online marketing measures like SEO, ads, and social media marketing needed to speed fast.

Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?

Philipp Pfaller: Home office was the only way to keep on working. Thank God this was nothing new for us. We already had the technical equipment and, more importantly, the right culture of trust to work remotely. The difficulty was the communication of COVID incidences around our team. What if family or friends are positive? Should we tell all or do nothing? We discussed every single case and found the right way.

How do you deal with stress and anxiety?

Philipp Pfaller: I compensate with sports, friends, and family. In the company, we stay calm, analyze, and act. We are sticking to Eisenhower’s urgent/important principle.

Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?

Philipp Pfaller: We compete with any other small or big web agency in the D-A-CH region. Focussing on our strengths, we have the perfect combination of size, service, and references to stay ahead. We do everything in-house and don’t outsource. This secures consistent quality. A right working environment provides for low fluctuation.

Your final thoughts?

Philipp Pfaller: Crisis is always a chance. COVID-19 showed us that business is nothing without good health. LIMESODA was active in workplace health promotion long before Corona. Winning the Austrian national award for workplace health promotion in 2020 secured us in our way.
