First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?

Pierre Lapointe: Thankfully, everyone is being careful and, as a result, healthy. Dealing with the kids at home has been challenging, but it also has reinforced family values.

Tell us about you, your career, how you founded Vinty.

Pierre Lapointe: French native, I arrived in San Francisco after a business school degree in 2015. After 10 years in the Bay Area in software sales, I decided to follow my passion project and build an MVP for my idea (classic car sharing).

How does Vinty innovate?

Pierre Lapointe: We help owners of an underutilized asset (vintage vehicle) earn extra income. As a result, we build the largest marketplace for classic car rentals in the US. Now, all event/production companies can find the vehicle they need in one centralized marketplace that is user friendly.

How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?

Pierre Lapointe: March to June revenue was down SIGNIFICANTLY. We focus on keeping the light on, and now the business is starting to perform again. We also took this time to think about our strategy moving forward.

Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?

Pierre Lapointe: Yes, we had to let some of our people go. The lesson learned is to take nothing for granted.

How do you deal with stress and anxiety? How do you project yourself and Vinty in the future?

Pierre Lapointe: We have to see the glass “half full” and not get depressed. Think of this period as a once in a lifetime situation. Things will get better, and you just have to buckle up and deal with it.

Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?

Pierre Lapointe: Companies like driveshare.com and other event production vehicle rental website. We need to keep innovating and fine-tune our offering to make it relevant and the best around.

Your final thoughts?

Pierre Lapointe: It is a tough time to be an entrepreneur, but with the right motivation and skill set, nothing is out of reach!
