Alessio Alionco Pipefy

First of all, how are you and your Family doing in these COVID-19 Times?

Alessio Alionco: We’re doing well. We’re staying focused on balancing our work and home life and making an effort to stay active. I’m constantly telling my team that our COVID-19 experience is a marathon, not a sprint. It’s a nice reminder for me as well.

Tell us about you, your Career, how you Founded or Joined Pipefy

Alessio Alionco: I’m formerly a mergers and acquisitions consultant and was experiencing deep frustration with the inflexibility, poor user experience, and cost of the tools available in the market when it came to executing work processes and streamlining business operations. All of my clients faced the same challenges, such as forgotten spreadsheets, lost emails, and duplicate information. I knew that I could not be the only one looking for a better way to work, and that led to the creation of Pipefy, founded in 2015.

I have an entrepreneurial spirit and founded, grew, and sold a startup called Acessozero, which was acquired by Apontador in 2012. Prior to that, I served as CEO of a consulting company called Go4 Consultoria. I have extensive experience working as a consultant for M&A and have also managed product and sales teams across a variety of industries such as foods, services, B2B, logistics, and others.

I graduated from Universidad Federal do Paraná in Brazil with a degree in Administration.

How does Pipefy Innovate?

Alessio Alionco: Pipefy transforms the way teams work by making processes hassle-free from request to delivery—unlocking efficiency through automation, standardization, visibility, access control, and by providing monitoring and metrics. We have innovated significantly in the area of monitoring and measurement so that teams can track efficiency and work more intelligently. Our no-code platform makes it easy for teams to optimize processes without needing IT involvement.

How the Coronavirus Pandemic affects your Business, and how are you coping?

Alessio Alionco: We have always put our employees first. When the pandemic first broke out, we transitioned to a work-from-home model and done everything we can to support our staff’s changing needs. I understand that members of my team face unique challenges such as childcare, caring for loved ones, and protecting their health. Fostering a supportive culture is at the forefront of all we do at Pipefy, it’s one of the reasons we were recently included in Forbes’ list of Best Startup Employers 2020. I know that, as CEO, taking care of the physical and mental health of our team is the best way I can take care of Pipefy as a company.

Another way we are giving back during this crisis is by offering a special template for employers to track health data and COVID-19 status and share COVID-related information and resources. This tool was something we created internally to help us keep track of our employee’s health concerns and distribute information based on those concerns. It has been so helpful for us that we are sharing it at no cost with our customers.

Did you have to make Difficult Choices, and what are the Lessons Learned?

Alessio Alionco: We announced in May that we would keep our offices closed through the end of the year to protect our staff and their loved ones best. Despite all the changes we’ve had to navigate, Pipefy has experienced excellent business continuity. Morale is up, and our sales are stronger than ever. Doing the right thing to protect our employees and community will continue to be a top priority going forward.

How do you deal with Stress and Anxiety? How do you Project yourself and Pipefy in the Future?

Alessio Alionco: My mental health and the mental health of my team is a top priority. It can be challenging to separate work and home life, especially when our environment doesn’t change. Pipefy offers a variety of resources for everyone to stay healthy, like twice-weekly high impact fitness classes, yoga and meditation classes, all virtual, of course. Since lunch in the office is no longer an option, we automatically deposit a lunch allowance for every employee to paycheck. We also have a policy where employees who lack proper office furniture or supplies like a desk, chair, or office supplies can receive them at no cost from our company. We want to eliminate any unnecessary stress as it relates to working remotely.

Pipefy has a bright future, and we are growing despite these difficult times. The increased disparities among business teams with people working from home has only highlighted the need for greater collaboration and efficiency when it comes to getting work done. Doers are turning to Pipefy for help managing processes digitally that are more challenging when teams are not in the office.

Who are your Competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the Game?

Alessio Alionco: Because Pipefy’s platform is versatile and customizable to many user needs from HR to payments and finance to service management, we compete in several categories. Our solution goes head-to-head with leaders in the Business Process Management and Workflow Management markets such as ServiceNow and Monday.com. In fact, in a recent G2 Grid, which ranks organizations based on verified user reviews, we were named a leader in both categories.

Our offering is used by many customers as a Talent Management System and improves efficiency for HR and recruitment functions.

Pipefy stands out from competitors because we can automate virtually any repeatable process. Our workflows are completely customizable and can integrate with ERP or other legacy tools to run end-to-end operations on a single platform. We have low-code/no-code implementation, so our tools can scale from a single team to an entire enterprise without the help or interference from IT.
