INNOVATORS VS COVID 19
Markovate: Providing Highly Effective Digital Marketing Services

We talked to Rajeev Sharma, founder, and CTO at Markovate, about effective digital marketing, and this is what he said about it.
First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?
Rajeev Sharma: We all doing well. Thank you for asking! This pandemic has taught us so many good things. We are coping up and learned to live with it. As you know, life will be like this for at least a year (if not 2), even after the mass inoculation. But hey, we get more time with our family, strengthen relationships over Zoom, take care of each other, and that has brought us together in a good way!
Tell us about you, your career, and how you founded Markovate.
Rajeev Sharma: I am the Co-Founder and CTO at Markovate. I and my partner (and life partner) Mansi, who is the CEO at Markovate, founded this company in 2015. She comes from a marketing background and I come from a technology background. We first started to work on a common project, which involved digital marketing and a bit of web development. We realized, hey! why not join forces and do more of this often. Then we decided to take on freelance projects early on, which involved integrated marketing. That led to the scale and helped us to build this full-service digital marketing agency.
How does Markovate innovate?
Rajeev Sharma: We live in an omnichannel world that is creating personalized experiences for everyone at any given moment. We at Markovate believe that the solution to addressing a specific problem is personalizing user’s experience by leveraging the right marketing channels. Our core focus has been a well-thought-out and predictable marketing program for our customers.
How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business and how are you coping?
Rajeev Sharma: This time is truly a challenge for all of us as individuals and as an organization. But any crisis comes with new opportunities. As a 360-degree digital marketing agency, we emphasized goal-based marketing solutions that wrap around the pain points of businesses and clients. This has helped small businesses and venture-backed start-ups to easily select their right marketing solutions.
Did you have to make difficult choices and what are the lessons learned?
Rajeev Sharma: Fortunately, we didn’t have to make any difficult choices. We didn’t have to lay off. Instead, we hired staff from different parts of the world due to the WFH normal. The transition from office to remote work came quite smoothly. This shows how we can adapt to this “new normal”.
What specific tools, software, and management skills are you using to navigate this crisis?
Rajeev Sharma: Communication and clear expectations are the key aspects to function properly especially during this pandemic. It impacts the service delivery and how well you provide customer experience. We have been using Slack and JIRA to communicate internally.
Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?
Rajeev Sharma: Many competitors are providing web designing and marketing services. But we are never afraid of trying new things to get the most out of our efforts. As for staying in the game, we always strive to improve our services and customize the solutions for our customers.
