Raphael Guldimann, CEO at onlineKarma tells us about online marketing and its effects.

First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?

Raphael Guldimann: Thank you, we sure miss aspects of the pre-COVID times, but we are very grateful that we’re all healthy, which is the most important.

Tell us about you, your career, how you founded onlineKarma.

Raphael Guldimann: Already in 2006, I started to work on my first website projects. In 2009 I started my first e-commerce website, where SEO and SEA played a crucial part in its success. From there on, people continued to ask me to support them as well in their Digital Marketing endeavors. That’s when I started to build a Digital Marketing Agency.

How does onlineKarma innovate?

Raphael Guldimann: At onlineKarma, we motivate people to stay curious, continue to research, read articles, listen to podcasts and just think outside the box. It is crucial to always think in new ways, be open to new and other ideas.

How does the coronavirus pandemic affect your business finances?

Raphael Guldimann: We reacted immediately after it started and moved things around quickly. onlineKarma continues to innovate and develop new ideas, solutions, and tools. Also, thanks to this, we’re in a stable situation.

Did you have to make difficult choices regarding human resources, and what are the lessons learned?

Raphael Guldimann: Like in a sports team, it is important that everyone has her/his position and thrives on the same goal. If this is not the case, then it is usually best for all involved parties to find a different solution. It is important to try to work for solutions internally and at the same time not to ignore reality, even if it is uncomfortable.

How did your customer relationship management evolve? Do you use any specific tools to be efficient?

Raphael Guldimann: This is yet to be optimized. We use bexio as the accounting software and have a CRM that we use, but we aren’t 100% satisfied with it. Thus we’re looking for optimized solutions.

Did you benefit from any government grants, and did that help keep your business afloat?

Raphael Guldimann: We did not request or receive any government grants.

Your final thoughts?

Raphael Guldimann: Stay curious.
