Remy Jacobson RealT

First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?

Remy Jacobson: We are doing as well as we can, given the conditions. We are still on social distancing mode, and not sending kids to school. We all can agree that it can be interesting at home with 3 under 3.

Tell us about you, your career, how you founded RealT

Remy Jacobson: A little bit about us, we have been Real estate investors and developers for the better part of the last 30 years. In 2011 we invested in something called BITCOIN. All our peers in real estate believed we were crazy. Thankfully we didn’t listen to them, and we actively mined BTC form 2011 to 2017. We created the Bitcoin Embassy in Montreal, the 1st one in the world.

RealT is a union of our 2 passions, Real estate and blockchain. Given to anyone the opportunity to become a real estate investor while shattering the barrier of entry to real estate and passive income, all of that with providing the transparency blockchain enables.

How does RealT innovate?

Remy Jacobson: We are the 1st real estate company fully integrated into DEFI. You can buy a token on Monday, collect rent every day of the week and sell your asset on Sunday. We made real estate liquid with UNISWAP. Soon you will be able to buy a token let’s say $100, and you will be able to go on AAVE and borrow $50 right away all that WITH NO BANK in the middle, no credit check and no track record….

How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?

Remy Jacobson: COVID has affected all of us in one way or the other. For sure, some aspects of the business are more complicated now and slowed us down, but it has shown us that we can work remotely. We can adapt to the situation and eventually get better and more efficient then we were before.

Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?

Remy Jacobson: Each choice is difficult and needs to be addressed with the same level of seriousness. DELAY is the worst thing that can happen to a company. Once a decision is taken, execution needs to follow immediately.

How do you deal with stress and anxiety? How do you project yourself and RealT in the future?

Remy Jacobson: I think stress is a constant state in a startup, and it won’t be a startup if you didn’t have any! I believe RealT will establish a new standard in Real Estate investments and more. Imagine listing your house for selling and not having to wait for 1 buyer anymore but have 1000s of buyers coming into your house.

Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?

Remy Jacobson: As of today, we don’t have any. A few companies tried to copy us as it seems easy to do what we do but when it’s time to execute on the tech side and real estate simultaneously is another story.
