Growth during Uncertain Times

We talked to Rob Kosberg of Best Seller Publishing on how the firm is helping authors sell their books.
First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?
Rob Kosberg: Actually, as good or better than ever. A little hard to say, seeing as so many are suffering right now with job loss and health issues.
Tell us about you, your career, how you founded Best Seller Publishing.
Rob Kosberg: I founded this company as a response to the market. I initially wrote a book to help launch a new company in 2009, during the great recession. The book led to amazing business growth, so much so that people starting coming to me asking me what I am doing and if I could help them. We began helping people in 2010 and never looked back.
How does Best Seller Publishing innovate?
Rob Kosberg: As the CEO, I see it as my responsibility to read, watch, and learn to keep our company growing and leading. I am also surrounded by really smart staff who gives advice and helps keep our finger on the market’s pulse.
How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?
Rob Kosberg: The biggest change has been going from all main staff in an office together to being completely virtual. It has been a blessing in disguise, and fortunately, we have a mature and conscientious staff that self manages and cares deeply for our clients and our company.
Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?
Rob Kosberg: Since we primarily market online, we have actually been able to grow through this time. Initially, there was concern about what the pandemic would do to the market, and we decided to cut hours, but that lasted only 3 weeks, and we have since grown our staff and payroll.
How do you deal with stress and anxiety, how do you project yourself and Best Seller Publishing in the future?
Rob Kosberg: My personal morning routine includes daily prayer and meditation. I also do my best to limit my use of social media and news so as to limit the negativity.
Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?
Rob Kosberg: Our competitors are other ghostwriting, publishing, and PR companies. We are on the cutting edge of our industry in terms of online marketing and client results. We believe that using a book to grow your impact and income is not only talk, but we also follow our own advice. I continue to write and publish content that we use in the exact way we teach our clients. This keeps us in the public eye of our market. We will continue to look for new ways to share our message and grow our impact.
Your final thoughts?
Rob Kosberg: Difficult times (even unprecedented times) need not be a death blow for your business or service. Get lean, get focused, and get marketing, and you will get through it.
