INNOVATORS VS COVID 19
Hosting Can Change How Your Sales Go, Says Sahil Chugh of Webscoot

We talked to Sahil Chugh of Webscoot about its 10x faster & fully secure eCommerce hosting and this is what he had to say.
First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?
Sahil Chugh: Undoubtedly, these have been trying times for all of us. The situation in India has forced us to leave our offices and work from home. Thankfully, this has given us the time to slow down and focus on things that matter. I have been spending quality time with my family, and we’re doing well.
Tell us about you, your career, how you founded Webscoot.
Sahil Chugh: I have always been inclined toward solving problems & working on things that made processes efficient. When I started MageHost in 2012, most of the websites were either running on shared hosting or in-house servers. Both of these weren’t optimal ways to run & expand an online business. To tackle security issues & the high costs of servers, we started our managed hosting services with the sole focus on Magento. Since Magento is a beast to handle when it comes to resources & performance, we gained expertise in that area. Rebranded to Webscoot.io, we have now expanded our hosting services to other CMS platforms like WooCommerce, Opencart, Drupal, etc., to help people grow their businesses.
How does Webscoot innovate?
Sahil Chugh: We’re fueled by innovation. Our motive is to provide a secure and speedy website to customers with minimum effort. It requires constant R&D in automation & other tools. Many of our engineers are focused on preparing tools to automate these processes and build a future proof technology stack.
How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?
Sahil Chugh: This pandemic has affected us in ways unimaginable. Most small online businesses, not under essential goods, had to shut down due to strict lockdown restrictions. Luckily, after the first wave, eCommerce gained momentum and grew exponentially. Offline businesses started moving online. We’re working 24/7 to keep the website up to match the traffic and the demands of the customers. A better performing website has helped our clients to drive and handle traffic influx and orders.
Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?
Sahil Chugh: When you run a company, there are a lot of ifs and buts. Weighing the pros and cons of a situation has helped me make choices logically. We’re all humans, and everyone makes the wrong choice here and there. But I am grateful to those since it paid off in the long run, and I learned my lessons early on.
How do you deal with stress and anxiety?
Sahil Chugh: To run a company in Delhi takes a lot of effort and sleepless nights. As a founder of a cloud hosting company, I need to be available all the time. I never let stress and anxiety come in the way of my work.
Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?
Sahil Chugh: Hosting companies but not shared ones. Our direct competition is with the companies that provide managed eCommerce hosting and follow a 360-degree approach for ensuring a client’s peace of mind. To stay ahead, we focus a lot of R&D on new features, automation of existing things, and building empathy in the team to ensure customer happiness is always kept a priority.
Your final thoughts?
Sahil Chugh: Hosting has the power to make or break your business. Although people have started to understand user-experiences criticality, there are still many people who fall for the $10 hosting tag. People are moving online, and being ahead of your customers will require you to offer your users premium experiences.
