Abc Multiactive: The New Zoom World

Samson Hui, founder of Abc Multiactive tells us about designing and implementing Financial solutions.
First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?
Samson Hui: We are doing good, spending time with family more than ever.
Tell us about you, your career, and how you founded Abc Multiactive.
Samson Hui: My family acquired the company in 1999 and was listed on the Growth Enterprise Market (GEM) of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong in 2001.
How does Abc Multiactive innovate?
Samson Hui: Abc Multiactive is a FinTech company for nearly 40 years, we are a system/service vendor of HKEx’s Broker Supplied Systems and we are principally engaged in designing/ implementing Financial solutions. We also provide professional maintenance services to our clients. We recognize that the market changes over time and it really pushes our innovation moving forward. Market innovates more than we innovate.
How does the coronavirus pandemic affect your business finances?
Samson Hui: The pandemic causes a minimal effect on the IT industry. I think this pandemic helps us to increase working efficiency in the sense of less traveling. We can now meet our client through zoom and cancel all overseas meetings, which saves us a lot of time.
Did you have to make difficult choices regarding human resources and what are the lessons learned?
Samson Hui: We are facing challenges when we implement work from home & flexible working hours scheme. We hope we can maintain a safe & healthy working environment and keep our colleagues working efficiently. We have learned that it will take time when adopting and facilitating a new working scheme.
How did your customer relationship management evolve? Do you use any specific tools to be efficient?
Samson Hui: We aim to increase our client base. Hosting webinars and inviting potential clients to join is a good method to strengthen our customer relationship. We host online webinars through Facebook and YouTube live.
Did you benefit from any government grants, and did that help keep your business afloat?
Samson Hui: Yes, we benefit indirectly from DBiz and TVP scheme from the Hong Kong government. These schemes aim to subsidy non-listed local enterprises/organizations in using technological services and solutions to improve productivity or upgrade or transform their business processes. These help us to generate more sales leads.
Your final thoughts?
Samson Hui: This pandemic changes human behavior and the future. It also helps us to evaluate consistent and reliable customers a lot easier. We have learned that Zoom is more time-efficient, face to face meetings only need to be arranged at the beginning and final stage. We will have fewer business trips in the future.
