Sanchit Garg Green Cure

First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?

Sanchit Garg: By the grace of God, we are all doing well. A lot of my family members contacted COVID, but everyone has recovered now.

Tell us about you, your career, how you joined Green Cure.

Sanchit Garg: In 2015, the founder’s father was traveling to Germany on a business trip and suddenly suffered from an Asthma attack. He could not find the inhaler which he generally carries with him. He rushed to a pharmacy and asked for medicine for wheezing. He was given a herbal syrup. This really surprised him because in India, on his countless visits to asthma doctors, he has never heard of such a product. In India, only inhalers were available which have steroids in them. Sanchit identified a gap in the market, and this incident kindled an interest in the Health and Wellness sector & started Green Cure to give India world-class herbal products. To become the World’s first company to combine German Engineering with Indian Ayurveda.

How does Green Cure innovate?

Sanchit Garg: We formally incorporated our company in October 2015 to start on a three-year-long product and market research journey. We saw two different worlds in the field of herbal products. First, the eastern way which relies on the 4000 years old field of Ayurveda. Its wisdom is captured in Charaka Samhita, the Sushruta Samhita, and the Bhela Samhita, which talks about healthy living and treatment without side effects. Second, the western way, which relies on the latest technology in product formulation to produce the most effective products as safely as possible. We decided to combine these two worlds and established a team of partner scientists in Germany & Ayurveda expert in India. Their collaboration resulted in Green Cure products.

How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?

Sanchit Garg: Like most businesses, we initially saw a huge drop in our sales. Thankfully since then, we have fully recovered and have surpassed our pre-COVID numbers.

Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?

Sanchit Garg: Yes – we had to make very difficult choices of continuously experimenting and continuously optimizing our revenue model. The biggest lesson that we learned is that every action that needs to be for the betterment of the company. It is easier said than done as it involves doing things that are tough and unpleasant.

How do you deal with stress and anxiety?

Sanchit Garg: I spend time with my family.

Your final thoughts?

Sanchit Garg: Green Cure is creating a brand with a focus on herbal/ayurvedic OTC products. The idea is to target chronic ailments which do not have an established herbal/ayurvedic solution. The current product range is in Lung Care, Pain Relief & Skin Care category. It plans to expand its product range to Sleep, Distress, Hypertension, Diabetes, etc., and give its customers a herbal alternative to current allopathic medicines.

After 2.5 years of research, the team developed a unique approach to creating unique formulationsThe products are created by a group of German Scientists and Ayurveda Experts to lend the best of Western technology and Indian wisdom of Ayurveda to create proprietary products. The company has applied for 13 patents and is at ~INR 3.3 Cr annual run rate.
