We talked to Santiago Cerezo, CEO & Founder of Foodfilin on how to buy the best tuppers online and receive them at home or at the office and here is what he said about it.
First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?
Santiago Cerezo: It is difficult here in Spain. We suffered a lot from the pandemic, especially between March-May 2020; however, we are recovering the normality little by little.
Tell us about you, your career, how you founded Foodfilin.
Santiago Cerezo: I founded Foodfilin in 2018 when I was 25. I was tired of listening to my friends complaining about there was no food in the fridge, and they did not have time to go to the supermarket and cooking, so they had to eat fast food instead of homemade and healthy food. That´s how I started to investigate the market, and I found so many companies specialized in cooking and sending weekly homemade food meals.
How does Foodfilin innovate?
Santiago Cerezo: In Foodfilin, we collect all these companies under the same website, and we sell their products so customers can choose the best brand according to their needs. We also show all the information that users need to know, such as nutritional info, allergens, and some more.
How does the coronavirus pandemic affect your business finances?
Santiago Cerezo: We are still benefiting from COVID-19. Our sector was crucial because restaurants are closed. People are working at their homes, and there is a part of the population who is still afraid of going out (especially older people), so our business has grown a lot because we are offering an essential service. Everybody has to eat every day, so we send them the best homemade food selection for the whole week. They only need to warm the plate for two minutes in the microwave, and that´s it!
Did you have to make difficult choices regarding human resources, and what are the lessons learned?
Santiago Cerezo: Absolutely not. Thanks to our business model, every worker can do its job anywhere they want, so we do not need to be at the same time in the same place. We only need the Internet. We have learned from this situation that when you have to face some critical situation, the team is your family, and we have to take care of each other to drive in the same direction.
How did your customer relationship management evolve? Do you use any specific tools to be efficient?
Santiago Cerezo: One thing we are proud of at Foodfilin is about our customer services. We almost know every customer, and we chat with them every week, so we ask them about the current situation if we can help, etc… Thanks to our team, we have created a special relationship with each client, and we are part of their lives. Sometimes a call is more effective than the best SAAS.
Did you benefit from any government grants, and did that help keep your business afloat?
Santiago Cerezo: In our case, we did not need any grant. We have grown more than 200%, so Foodfilin is more active than ever.
