Shreya Anchlia tells us how AbroEduShip is changing the education world, one scholarship at a time.
First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?
Shreya Anchlia: We are coping up with the situation. We got Covid but have since recovered from it.
Tell us about you, your career, how you founded AbroEduShip.
Shreya Anchlia: I did my undergrad in Computer Science Engineering. After working for a year as a developer, I, like many others, wanted to accelerate my career, so I decided to do a Master’s abroad. In India, I searched for a lot of consultancies, but I found unbiased opinions from consultancies. I was also looking for some scholarships to cover my tuition and accommodation fees. Finally, I decided to research and apply on my own. It took me so long to build my profile, apply for scholarships and finally land 100% tuition, full accommodation scholarship in Europe for my masters in AI & Robotics degree, and I was also getting monthly stipends. When I came back to India, a lot of parents and students asked me about this. So, I gave counseling sessions for free, helping students build their profiles, applying for them, etc. I have given over 7000+ Free counseling sessions till now. That’s when I started AbroEduShip. With a mission to give unbiased career counselling and search for scholarships and financial aids to help students Study Abroad.
Along with the full application services, their career counselling is quite eccentric too. With the help of their skill and interest-based Q&A and report analysis, Abroeduship not only helps a student introspect their interest and passion but also connects them with the outlying mentors in their respective field.
In my mission, now 150+ Mentors who are from Ivy League have joined me. They are also guiding students on a voluntary basis. By connecting the realistic viewpoints of the mentors to the dreams of prospective students, we essentially also serve as a platform (AbroEduShip) to give students a definite direction. A stellar community of mentors belonging from Princeton, LSE, IIT, IIM, Cornell, etc., is present 24*7 to assist students in any hassle that they face. Further, with a sound and researched variety of unique courses, be it in India or abroad, they also, save the students from following the usual jam-packed road of government and management entrances.
How does AbroEduShip innovate?
Shreya Anchlia: The unique edge of our ed-tech startup is unbiased counseling, searching personalized scholarships (suppose a person has low GPAs but is a good chess player, then we match him to the chess foundation scholarships and so on) and the stellar community of our Ivy League Mentors who are giving free live sessions every week to help our students.
How does the coronavirus pandemic affect your business finances?
Shreya Anchlia: During corona, we surprisingly found the traffic on our website increased. As in India, many people lost their jobs, and they want to utilize this time to accelerate their career, so we saw the increment in higher education queries. Also, as many universities waivered their mandatory exams like TOEFL/IELTS/GRE/GMAT and also keeping one/two semesters online so this essentially saves exam coaching fees, accommodation, and living expenses, so many people are applying to study abroad now.
How did your customer relationship management evolve? Do you use any specific tools to be efficient?
Shreya Anchlia: Initially, we used to take in-person meetings at our offices in Gurgaon, Delhi NCR, and Udaipur, Rajasthan, but now due to covid, we have shifted everything online. So, we are taking meetings on Google meet, zoom. We are helping students 24/7 using Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp, our website, and email. We have found social media for business to be very effective in times of corona.
Your final thoughts?
Shreya Anchlia: Everybody should have access to affordable education. That’s our company’s motto and spirit. We are trying to change the education world one scholarship at a time.
