Tell us a few words about the founders and how the idea came
Edinam, is the founder and CEO of Sons Development Ghana Ltd. He learned with great interest the innovative and affordable building systems using Light Gauge Steel Framing and Wood-Plastic Composite (WPC) technologies, Edinam established his own company, Sons Development LLC, USA in Tallahassee, Florida and engaged in estate development beginning with renovation and remodeling contracts using the new systems since 2014., Edinam had trained and worked as a Construction Technician in Wood Framing Systems with Kelly Construction Company, Tallahassee-Florida. He graduated from the Takoradi Technical University (formerly Takoradi Polytechnic) with Higher National Diploma (HND) in Graphic Design majoring in Public Relations.
He has also obtained Certificate in Start-UP Quest Program from the University of Florida, USA in He has a considerable working experience in various fields both at local and international levels with remarkable achievements. Passionate about housing in Africa my team and I decide to bring the difference to solve 3 major issues integrated with one other.
The major threat of plastic waste mance across Africa and inadequate innovations, lead us researching, developing and prototyping our products made from waste plastic and wood. We want to be the leader the way in waste sector industrialization and value-added product manufacturing. We want to collect the waste through our App call KleanApp, produce listed building materials from it in our multi-purpose production house and building with them through the help of the advance light gauge steel framing technology in providing housing, job creation at all levels and clean our communities. SDGL manufactures Sons-Plastico System which is made up of Wpvc (Wood Waste + PVC Plastic Waste) and WPE (Wood Waste + Polythene waste) and LGSF (Light Gauge Steel Framing System) as building materials for comprehensive architectural works, for both domestic and commercial buildings. Wpvc and WPE are known as WPC (Wood Plastic Composite)

Sons-Plastico Systems™ vs. Concrete Construction
Time gain – Perhaps the most important aspect of using Sons Plastico construction Systems™ as compared to reinforced concrete is the element of time for the on-site erection of our blocks. Reduced time presence for the Contractor on site translates into a shorter construction time for project delivery and this leads to reduced overheads during project construction.
Quality Control – Off-site production of team members in isolated factory conditions means better quality control of manufacturing compared to pouring concrete frames in site whilst exposed to the weather elements. This affects quality and cost of works.
Design flexibility – Longer spanning structural WPC frames create column free areas that offer greater flexibility and functionality of floor layouts thereby facilitating sales or lettings of the completed buildings. Pipes and ducts can run easily through steel members and can also be inspected in the future whereas no such flexibility exists with concrete members.
Affordability-Our system uses less quantity of cement compared with other systems and therefore more affordable, price-wise. It can therefore suit the pockets of many lower income earners.
Sustainability – SDG tackles sustainability issues in an integrated manner underpinned by recognition of cultural values, compliance with environmental rules, availability of inputs, transformative education and collaboration with all key stakeholders at both private and public levels.
Your business model
The project is at the stage of seeking for investors to obtain the required funding to build and operate its multi-purpose factory for system blocks that can produce over 1000 homes per year. Between 2018 and 2022, SDGL plans to build a total of 1445 units ranging from 1 bedroom home to 4 bedroom types and produce 100,000pcs of board an alternative to plywood. It is management’s opinion that initial profitability will be fairly high for a start-up company.
Our financial plan anticipates that we will achieve positive net income by the end of the third year. We expect to be paying lower costs in marketing and advertising than other companies as we attempt to build our project impacts using the waste from the community into wealth creation, developing our country and creating jobs

The real estate industry is highly fragmented, with a large number of potential rivals. Heaven Gates Estates, Lakeside Estates and Devtraco Limited are some of the country’s established companies that have been in operation for the past ten years, with a fine track record of quality service but with prohibitive pricing. SDGL has a competitive edge over these developers when it comes to pricing, elegance, diversity and speed. They also provide a market for our Wpvc and WPE products this would put us ahead of the market.
