Plus Prep’s Story of Resolution & Innovation during and after the COVID Crisis

Suhas S, founder & director at Plus Prep Education tells us about live online class training.
First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?
Suhas S: We are doing good.
Tell us about you, your career, and how you founded Plus Prep Education.
Suhas S: Plus Prep was founded four years ago by me & a team of able professionals from the test-prep & education industry. I have been associated with the test prep industry for over 13+ years and have led teams across India & built organizations ground up. Having seen a gap in the industry we conceived the idea of Plus Prep to offer world-class test prep & consulting services to Indian students who are aspiring to study abroad.
How does Plus Prep Education innovate?
Suhas S: Plus Prep has been an organization that strives for innovation in terms of curriculum & delivery. We have created a unique pedagogy for standardized tests that cater to Indian students & help them ace the tests successfully.
How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?
Suhas S: The pandemic has been tough to cope with since most of our offerings relied on personal contact. A sudden lockdown put us off and we had to adapt our measures overnight to tackle the unexpected challenges. This has helped us to cope with the situation.
Did you have to make difficult choices and what are the lessons learned?
Suhas S: Yes, we had to restructure our team and roles as well as alter the offerings. The pandemic has been a real teacher in terms of being flexible and adapting to unforeseen circumstances. We’ve realized the need for being fluid and accommodating to the circumstances & needs of our clients.
What specific tools, software, and management skills are you using to navigate this crisis?
Suhas S: We’ve utilized several tools to navigate the crisis. We shifted our classes to go online by using offerings from Google Meet & Adobe. We’ve also made use of training tools to ensure the students feel comfortable & continue their learning during the lockdown.
Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?
Suhas S: There are many competitors offering similar services ( both Indian & International). Our core business philosophy has been high-quality services with affordable prices, we plan to continue the same. We have also started offering hybrid classes with a combination of classroom & live online classes.
Your final thoughts?
Suhas S: The Pandemic has been tough for us like any other business. However, it has also opened a few opportunities for collaboration across the globe. During the pandemic, we were able to secure strategic partnerships with three companies across the globe (France, UK & Canada). We realized reaching out to companies who have similar interests can be fruitful and collaborating with companies is better than competing.
