We talked to Syed Zeshan Ahmed of Black Production Films on how to combine experience and creativity with the latest state-of-the-art technology to provide an incredibly diverse array of production support services and this is what he had to say.
First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?
Syed Zeshan Ahmed: By the Grace of Almighty I am doing great and so is my family.
Tell us about you, your career, how you founded Black Production Films.
Syed Zeshan Ahmed: I graduated in Film Production, then worked with different reputable television channels such as Hum TV, Express-News & BBC World Service. I started getting freelance projects, and then I decided to join hands with my fellow university mates and started my company Black Production Films.
How does Black Production Films innovate?
Syed Zeshan Ahmed: We innovate through constant research and experimentation. When you partner with us, you’ll discover how we combine our experience & creativity with the latest state-of-the-art technology to provide an incredibly diverse array of production support services managed by the industry’s educated & talented professionals.
How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?
Syed Zeshan Ahmed: In the start, it affected our business immensely, but thankfully we finished a project with USP (United States Pharmacopeia) just at the beginning of the lockdown in the country. So it was challenging but not that much. On a brighter side, it gave us time to spend with our families and focus more on social awareness videos.
Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?
Syed Zeshan Ahmed: This year, not as such, thanks to Almighty, a lesson that I learned was never focus one path, in business always diversify.
How do you deal with stress and anxiety, how do you project yourself and Black Production Films in the future?
Syed Zeshan Ahmed: I put my best effort and energy and then leave the result to the universe. I sleep in peace because I trust that everything will fall into place at the right time when I do things the right way.
I see great future ahead for my company, we got four massive projects at the start of the year 2020, but sadly they all got postponed or cancelled due to the pandemic. For many, this would have been a source of anxiety and distress, but for me, it was an opportunity to open fabulous new doors in the years to come.
Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?
Syed Zeshan Ahmed: What we do is different when it comes to Film/video production. Pakistan has a shortage of honest, educated media professionals who can comprehend the brief and execute the show accordingly, so I would say that we are an agency/production company. When clients come to us directly, there is no chance of Chinese whisper. The information always gets interpreted correctly. 70% of our clients are in foreign countries. They trust and recommend us to other new prospective clients.
Your final thoughts?
Syed Zeshan Ahmed: We strive to improve not only our lives but the lives of the people around us, especially create content that makes small or big, any difference.
