We talked to Tejasa Potnis, Director & CEO of TRIOS, about coworking space and here is what she said about it.

First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?

Tejasa Potnis: My entire family and I both at home as well as in the office are doing great. During these tough times, love for work has kept us positive and COVID-19 negative.

Tell us about you, your career, how you founded TRIOS.

Tejasa Potnis: I have completed my masters in Biochemistry. After working for a couple of years in Reliance, Lifesciences my husband and I decided to start this venture together. My husband is a serial entrepreneur, and he was running a software company out of commercial office space. As it was a startup with a growing team, half of the office space was still empty, so we decided to monetize this space by creating a coworking space. This idea took off really well, and within four years, we grew to 5 coworking centres.

How does TRIOS innovate?

Tejasa Potnis: We innovate by adding values to the customer experience. We are constantly figuring out the possible office space requirements for companies and how we can help them. Every working model has set procedures to give client experience as per TRIOS’s standards.

How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?

Tejasa Potnis: As everyone was working from home, the need for office space was reduced, resulting in lesser new leads for Coworking space. We emphasized more on member retention during this period. Our members were informed regularly, and we conducted many client engaging activities such as webinar series and online events. Post lockdown this has brought a positive impact on our business as companies are leaning more on the hybrid working model instead of conventional offices. This year new leads have increased to 80% compared to the same period last year, and we see the coworking industry thriving in 2021.

Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?

Tejasa Potnis: We faced some challenges, but gladly with planning, perseverance and support from the team, we did not have to make any difficult choices. Life will have its ups and downs, but you will succeed if you show perseverance in the things you want in life. And lastly, we have to be acceptable and adaptable to the changes life brings to us.

What specific tools, software and management skills are you using to navigate this crisis?

Tejasa Potnis: Coworking has multiple branches under one umbrella such as plain vanilla Coworking, serviced office, flexspaces etc. This pandemic has given us the opportunity to work on such different products.

Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?

Tejasa Potnis: Everyone in Coworking or managed office space industry is our competitor. It’s always good to have a competition as it always helps us innovate and improvise our product. This healthy competition is eventually better for consumers and the company’s growth. We plan to stay in the game by growing rapidly and providing best services to our members.

Your final thoughts?

Tejasa Potnis: Everyone has stayed strong during this period, adapted to the unexpected change that life has thrown our way, but when you walk up the mountain, your legs get stronger. Stay safe Stay strong.
