Close-Up Shot of Two People Playing VR Box

In the service sector, the rise of chabot virtual consultation is contributing to the insomnia of sales professionals foreseeing a worrisome, jobless future. Evidence suggests that concerns are unjustified, however –– at least for now. Whether chatbots, virtual assistants and AI will create more jobs than they will destroy, or whether they will help humans with their tasks, rather than substitute them, is still a matter of unresolved debate. The rise of Artificial Intelligence virtual consultation, however, is not.

Why an AI Virtual Assistant?

As we speed towards automation and Elon Musk preaches the arrival of driverless cars, increasingly more people fear being outperformed by AI. Far from any Matrix-like dystopia, however, one of the fastest growing automation strategies has been the use of chatbots in ecommerce websites, hand in hand with the rise of online business during the COVID pandemic

AI virtual consultation presents a series of advantages that makes it irresistibly attractive for businesses, including the following:

  • Chatbots work 24 hours per day, 7 days per week
  • They have a near zero cost
  • They are time-efficient for both the company and its customers
  • They do not incur in human errors, or greatly minimize them
  • They give away the image of a flourishing, digitalised business

Does Virtual Consultation Actually Work?

Nowadays, ignoring chatbots would be like the ancient equivalent of dismissing powder because it creates colorful fires in the sky with little practical use. AI consultation is continuously adapting itself, fed by millions of people day after day, hour after hour. We are at the very beginning of a revolution that is rapidly growing multi-billion dollar industries –– so, for all old-school cavemen out there, it might be worth noticing that online consultation with AI is providing surprising results in some of the biggest sectors:

Virtual Consultation in the Law Industry

The most basic lawyer work involves exchanging an ingrateful amount of emails in an extenuating, time-consuming process for both parties. No customer is willing to pay the expensive fees quoted by legal firms without receiving an answer to numerous questions. An extended, tedious, almost copy-paste conversation is almost indispensable before a budget and strategy can be established, making it more costly.

To put an end to this issue, Cartland Law, an Australian company specializing in tax and commercial law, decided to use IA technology. Through the use of a chatbot, Cartland Law managed to bring down the cost of a legal document from $1550 (created by a lawyer), to $50 (created by an AI chatbot), building a win-win situation for both parties.

Chatbots further ease the customer segmentation process by forwarding clients to the right departments, eliminating bottlenecks, solving time-efficiency issues and increasing conversions.

Virtual Consultation in the Medical Industry

The medical sector is often regarded as an industry safeguarded from the intermission of artificial technology. This is a popular myth. Every year, thousands of patients die due to professional negligence. As AI technology continues to develop, the choice between a human surgeon and a robot capable of scanning your body with millimetric precision will become evermore easy.

This also applies to online medical consultation. In fact, many patients already prefer AI to human consultants. For example, people are hesitant to provide personal details, such as age, weight and height. Online medical consultations often require sending naked pictures of intimate areas, which is even a more delicate subject for many patients.

MCAN Health, a Turkish medical company specialized in plastic surgery has demonstrated the benefits of using a chatbot for online medical consultation. The white paper analysis of the company reveals a 40% decrease in the workload, while the chatbot delivers 5% of total sales. Dr. Ethos, the company’s chatbot, has proven particularly effective with breast augmentation consultations, most probably due to the hesitance of women to send their naked pictures to online human assistants.

Virtual Consultation in Retail

The fact that Amazon’s CEO Jeff Bezos was, for a while at least, the richest man on the planet, gives you a good idea of how big retail is. The ecommerce retail industry has been booming for over a decade, always dealing with a traditional, major problem: the customer’s inability to test a product before purchasing it.

Chatbots have found a way of partially solving this issue. Chatbots used in cosmetics, for example, use pictures to change the color of a woman’s mascara, her lips or eye-lashes to better visualize the product. This represents a direct way of tackling the main reticence affecting the industry. Analogous applications have been tested in clothing brands as famous as Levi’s, or underwear such as Chloé.

No More Human Errors?

Consultation is more often than not a sales job, a task of the utmost importance within the business framework. When it comes to AI virtual consultation, there is consensus over the fact that there is a long way to go and big room for improvement. This, however, does not eliminate the fact many of us already foresee how the continuous improvement of AI technology, along with the younger generations’ increased familiarity with robot interactions might very well create a future in which most of the consulting work will be carried out by artificial intelligence.

It would be wise not to dismiss the signs, and to prepare ourselves for upcoming industry disruptions.
