Timo Kojonen Therapion

We talked to Timo Kojonen about how Therapion offers Online Therapy and Counseling, and this is what he had to say.

First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?

Timo Kojonen: My solidarity goes to all affected by the pandemic. These are truly challenging times. Keep up the faith, and do not give up! There is a good chance that things start to improve soon.

In my case, I do my best to protect my family and myself. So far, so good. It’s been a crazy year for sure.

Tell us about you, your career, how you founded Therapion?

Timo Kojonen: Some 15 years ago, I started an e-commerce workshop with my MBA buddies. One of the ideas that came up was providing online counseling. It seemed a natural thing to me.

Tell us about your business.

Timo Kojonen: is a large online therapy and counseling website. We provide counseling in 15 languages. Our team consists of qualified counselors, psychotherapists, and psychologists.

How does Therapion innovate?

Timo Kojonen: With us, innovation is part of the everyday plan. Sometimes it’s something small, such as reorganizing an ongoing task. Sometimes it’s something big, such as developing new products or services. I think that innovation should be treated ‘innovatively’; it cannot be forced, hurried, nor tamed. Innovation is a creative process and needs to be nurtured. It is not a piece of office furniture that can be brought in overnight.

A few words about our philosophy: We believe in hope, strong individuals, and personal freedom. There is always a chance to make things better. That chance belongs to all of us. For each person, the path to a fulfilling life is different.

Come to us if you want a life change. We shall help you and be your guide.

How to keep up with the competition?

Timo Kojonen: We take this as long-distance running. It means that yes, we are in a hurry to keep up with other businesses. On the other hand, if we at some moment fall back in the race, we then make it up next year. I’ve noticed that it’s about making a quick buck for many online therapy sites, not so with Therapion. The main thing for us is to provide great counseling service to our clients. Please do your own thing, that’s what I think.

How do you deal with stress and anxiety?

Timo Kojonen: In my mindset, stress is nothing out of the ordinary. It’s a pain in the neck, a stone in the shoe for sure. To cope, I concentrate on the fundamentals. Life should be simple, and every day must include something worth waking up to. My personal “balance maintenance system” includes everything that I consider of importance: love, freedom, creativity. I do simple things to promote these values. Also, I’m lucky to work with counseling professionals. If I need help, I can always count on them for good advice. Stress never ends. Therefore, we still have to counter-attack it. Life must be active and move forward.

Your final thoughts?

Timo Kojonen: Be prepared but expect the unexpected, always.
