A side hustle is any kind of work that you do to earn extra money on top of your main income source. Whether you have a 9 to 5 job, small business or even a college student, there will always be that side hustle that can fit within your schedule if you want to earn some extra income. Side hustling is always the way to go whenever you realize that the bills you have are more than your current income. Remember you also need to save some money for emergencies and investment. Side hustle may be a key startup survival strategy in this Covid-19 era.

Today, it is possible to do a couple of side hustles from the comfort of your office or home thanks to the fast internet that makes it easier to connect with clients. In this article, I am going to share with you my choice of the top 8 side hustle ideas that will earn you some extra income.

Idea #1: Sell Gigs on Fiverr

Fiverr is one of the biggest freelance platforms that has been around for over 10 years. To start earning on Fiverr, simply signup as a seller and create your Gig. A gig refers to a brief description of the service you offer which also includes the price ranges of the service and the delivery time. Some of the most selling services on Fiverr include graphics design and writing. But you can literally sell any service of Fiverr. The price range for gigs is between $5 to $995. You can price your within this range.

Idea #2: Rent out spaces on Airbnb

Airbnb is an American company that offers lodging services to travelers around the world. You can list your apartment or house on their website and they will connect you to the big market of travelers who are looking for houses. All you have to do is signup on Airbnb and list your apartment space on the site. Make sure you put all the details of the house/apartment you are renting out and its photos

Idea #3: Sell stuff you no longer use on eBay

If there are things that are no longer useful in your house or at a friend’s house, you may consider listing them on eBay and earn yourself some extra cash. Make sure the things you intend to sell are not so old. Selling on eBay requires you to create a sellers account and then start listing your products right away

Idea #4: Teach English language to Chinese Kids via VIPKid

VIPKid is a platform that connects English teachers to young children in China. The qualifications for teaching on this platform include the following; You should be a resident of Canada or USA, have 1 years’ experience in Education or tutoring and also have a bachelor’s degree in any field. You can earn up to $20 per on this platform

Idea #5: Affiliate marketing

Affiliate marketing has been around for more than one decade. This form of marketing involves redirecting buyers from your website to another website that sells a certain product and earn a commission when the sale is complete.

Idea #6: Create and sell cookbooks

If you have some unique and tasty food recipes that you know about, then cookbooks can earn you some decent side income. Create a cookbook and sell it on Amazon and any other e-book selling platforms. It may take some time but once it picks up, the rewards are worth the wait

Idea #7: Do deliveries for Postmates

Postmates operates in the USA and some cities in Mexico. You can deliver stuff to people within your local areas. Most of the stuff people order on Postmates is food-related, so you should be able to deliver in a few minutes. You can earn up to $25 per hour delivering on Postmates. Something similar is Delivery Driver for Amazon jobs regarding work and payment. Plus, you get your “personal assistant” called Amazon Flex Bot, which helps you with parcels, live traffic info, and more.

Idea #8: Manage social media accounts for small businesses

Being present on social is like a prerequisite for any small business today. However, many small business owners don’t have the skills or time to create content for their social media. If you have digital marketing skills, this can be a good side hustle that doesn’t need a lot of time to do.

Conclusion

Most of the side hustles I have shared above do not need money to start. Most of them will require you to only have your computer/smartphone and an internet connection. You may even choose to do any of the above on a full-time basis. It all depends on how much you are earning at your main income source. Some of the ideas above can generate more than $2000 a month if done as a full-time hustle. But the best strategy is to start it as a side hustle and then advance it to a full-time hustle after knowing how much it can generate consistently
