First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?
Waqas H Siddiqui: Very well, and the family is doing great.
Tell us about you, your career, how you founded Research Konnection.
Waqas H Siddiqui: I am a business consultant and researcher specializing in Market Research, Feasibility Studies, and Business Setups in the UAE & Gulf Region. I founded the company in 2014 after realizing the passion I have for both research and helping entrepreneurs with data and insights about this region.
How does Research Konnection innovate?
Waqas H Siddiqui: We use advanced technology-based softwares for data collection and extract meaningful insights useful in business decision making.
How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?
Waqas H Siddiqui: In terms of work operations, the coronavirus pandemic did not affect us as much as we embraced the remote working business model in 2017 after realizing that the traditional 9-5 way of working was counterproductive. We are coping with the pandemic by being flexible in terms of our service offerings, pricing as well as trying to expand in regional and global markets.
Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?
Waqas H Siddiqui: The lessons learned are always to be prepared for unexpected circumstances such as coronavirus pandemic, which includes adding new and innovative services to the portfolio and expanding, collaborating, and partnering with individuals and businesses that have a similar vision for growth.
How do you deal with stress and anxiety?
Waqas H Siddiqui: Reading books, lifting weights, going for long walks, yoga, and talking to very close friends. Also, travelling and exploring new places and cultures.
Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?
Waqas H Siddiqui: Other market research companies based in Dubai. We have never worried about our competitors. Instead, we have focused on becoming better at what we do and connecting with clients on the basis of value-added data, and offering a personalized customer service experience.

Waqas H Siddiqui: To be successful, one must not hesitate to take risks, try out new things, and always be willing to learn, adapt, and adjust.
