We talked to Yair Maryanka, CEO at Yamar Electronics about semiconductors that save wires and here is what he said about it.

First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?

Yair Maryanka: We are well; thanks to the government’s efforts, we are already vaccinated, so it is a big relief.

Tell us about you, your career, how you founded Yamar Electronics.

Yair Maryanka: During my work in Japan (1989-1992), I saw that the time required to install a new NAVI system in a car is complicated and expensive.

So the question came, Why not use the existing vehicle DC Powerline also for communication?

As an experienced engineer, I know the answer; power lines are noisy and have unpredicted communication behavior. However, if we will use advanced communication techniques, we can overcome it.

So, I founded Yamar Electronics, and the rest is history.

How does Yamar Electronics innovate?

Yair Maryanka: We become the world leader in DC BUS communication over powerline. Our unique communication solution, implemented by Yamar’s engineering team in Israel into small size ICs that are in use by customers in more than 50 countries. The same solution is applicable wherever wires are a problem, such as in automotive, aerospace, industrial control.

How does the coronavirus pandemic affect your business finances?

Yair Maryanka: In the first 6 months, many of our international customers stopped production. However, now orders are back to normal or even more.

Did you have to make difficult choices regarding human resources, and what are the lessons learned?

Yair Maryanka: We kept the same team.

How did your customer relationship management evolve? Do you use any specific tools to be efficient?

Yair Maryanka: We are a small company that has a direct relationship with the customers. Such relationships are a big advantage these days.

Did you benefit from any government grants, and did that help keep your business afloat?

Yair Maryanka: Very little support.

Your final thoughts?

Yair Maryanka: If you really believe in your idea, go for it!
