Turning Crisis into Opportunities during the Pandemic
We talked to Yashu Kapila on how BugRaptors is the best software testing company, and this is what she had to say about it.
First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?
Yashu Kapila: We all are fine and healthy. Thank you for your concern. The year 2020 has been challenging for everyone. I learned professionally and personally and emerged as a stronger person to face unprecedented times with more vigor and positivity. Being patient and maintaining the right attitude has been an important lesson this year.
Tell us about you, your career, how you founded BugRaptors?
Yashu Kapila: In 2006, when I started my career as a quality consultant, I was always interested in exploring and working on the latest testing domain advancements. I began with manual testing and, while transitioning into the automated testing domain, dealt with test automation challenges. Effective communication and collaboration in teams, selecting the right testing tool and the best testing approach, meeting the demands of skilled resources, and primarily focusing on the upfront investment cost, were few aspects I worked on closely in my early career days.
In March 2016, we founded BugRaptors and worked continuously on the streamlined workflow, like Agile and DevOps. Today we are an independent software testing and QA consulting company, working on the BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) model, Capacity Augmentation in Functional and Automation Testing, and Independent Validation & Verification (IV&V) Services. We are a team of around 500 ISTQB and equivalent certified testers and strive to become the global leaders in providing QA services.
How does BugRaptors Innovate?
Yashu Kapila: Predicting and nailing on future technologies while anticipating the customer demands drives us to deploy innovations in our workflow today. At BugRaptors, we promote mindful thinking and provide a prolific work culture that allows the creative juices to flow from our stellar performers. We foster innovation in our labs at BugRaptors to introduce inventive solutions in the market. Some of the innovations we are currently working upon are advanced QA Automation to drive IoT systems in the coming years, integration with open-source platforms, build secured and private frameworks to assure reliable data from big data, etc.
How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?
Yashu Kapila: To be honest, the pandemic did not affect us much! We are already on the digital platform, and our work processes are streamlined to meet our business requirements. Yes, we were concerned about the market trends and had been keeping a close watch on them. There have been abrupt changes in the market norms and pricing, but we could cope up and support our clients, even during critical times. At BugRaptors, we encourage employees to work remotely, and our teams have been working efficiently, regardless of the tough times.
Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?
Yashu Kapila: I believe that sometimes the most challenging decisions are the right ones. We strive to deliver QA testing services to our clients globally and make the best hiring to meet our benchmark. Though our teams have missed out on meeting on social interactions at the workplace, we have revamped our processes to ensure that our employees are always proactive and inventive. Also, before the pandemic, we encouraged remote working by considering certain factors. But during the pandemic, our teams have performed exceptionally well from remote locations, and there has been a significant boost in productivity. So, we are happy to offer a flexible work environment for our professionals in the future.
How do you deal with stress and anxiety?
Yashu Kapila: At times, moments of crisis turn into opportunities. I have been sharing the same thought with my teams, which is evident from their unswerving performance. We ensure that our employees maintain a healthy Emotional Quotient, and for that, we have regular online sessions from experts. Along with work efficiency, we focus on creating an empathetic culture amongst peers and leaders.
Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?
Yashu Kapila: With over a decade of experience, we have carved a niche in the QA Testing domain. Our constant endeavor to deliver successful QA testing solutions and consultancy to our global clients helps us stay ahead. We have a vision and look upon big industry players to create milestone achievements.
Your final thoughts?
Yashu Kapila: The COVID has been an eye-opener for all of us worldwide and has given a different dimension to like, work and relations. We have worked on our policies to be more competitive and sustainable during unprecedented times while replacing some traditional concepts. We are also working on BugRaptors QA X.0 to bring the Quality revolution to harness the latest technologies. We emphasize customer behavior by measuring true – “predictiveness” and automated calibration techniques to foster human connections and achieve embrace success in the future.
