Yayale entreprise: eshop for poultry products and services

Poultry farming 800x500 c 1

Tell us a few words about the founders and how the idea came

The idea of this came up around mid of the year 2015, when as a team of young and passionate farmers, we started thinking about new way of supply chain on products and related services in poultry,  that is to disrupt the traditional way as to ease the hardship in transporting of goods and services to client, so it will reduce the risk of  loosing the nutritional value of eggs and meat by easily accessing the products on time and convey it as soon as possible to clients. We unanimously agreed to create a unique platform which is the first of its kind in Nigeria to sell poultry products and services, where we are targeting about 50, 000 members when it is fully implemented.

Your products and services

Our own products/services is an e-Agriculture platform. The portal is primarily an e-commerce platform where all poultry farmers will register their products (eggs, meat and poultry wastes) and upload descriptions, price and location. Prospective buyers (restaurants, hotels, government agencies etc) are able to view all uploaded products for sale and able to negotiate with sellers and can make payment online.

This same portal will serve as a means for various stakeholders to share information and give insightful feedback and comments on best practices in poultry farming and to use weather forecast to advice farmers on how to avoid risks and prevent diseases in poultry farming.

Your success factors

Due diligence, passion, commitment, zeal and hard work.

Your factors differentiating and disruptive compared to the existing

It is the first of its kind in Nigeria, disrupting the traditional ways of buying and selling of poultry products and services.

The portal unlike some e-Agric portals will serve as a means for various stakeholders to share information and give insightful feedback and comments on best practices in poultry farming and to use weather forecast to advice farmers on how to avoid risks and prevent diseases in poultry farming.

Your business model (how do you make money?)

An e-portal will be created, which brings together relevant stakeholders in the poultry industry. These are:

  1. Polutry farmers (who have chicken meat, eggs and poultry litters for sale)
  2. Poultry buyers (these are hotels, restaurants, distributors, community members)
  3. Experts (Agricultural extension experts/poultry farm specialists)

This e-commerce platform is going to be an all-round and one-stop shop for the exchange of value at the right price and time for everyone.

Poultry farmers are able to register on the portal and upload all kinds of products they have for sale with their prices and pictures. Buyers are able to view all kinds of products and select which ones they like to buy and proceed to negotiate, if the need be, for the products they wish to purchase, and are able to conclude plans directly with the poultry farmer and finalize arrangements on delivery, after which the buyer may proceed directly to pay for the goods or products online using the same portal.

Our source of revenue is that we charge the seller a small token fee (2%) for every transaction that has been concluded and paid for.

Additional services are available on the same portal, where we bring experts in this field to consult farmers and even buyers themselves on best hygienic practices for poultry farming, raising, transportation, diseases and even healthy consumption patterns. These services will be available for a small token fee and that supplements our source of revenue.

We also undertake poultry production (meat, eggs and wastes products) like any other seller and post same on the portal.

A few words about your competitors

Our unfair advantages are;

  1. Our platform is the first of its kind in Nigeria. We will bring everyone at a one-stop shop to deliver and extract value for the right price at the right time. Consumers or clients will have a wide range of products to choose from, farmers need not to worry about wastage or reduced nutritional value anymore, or need not to worry about bad roads or price decline and so on.
  2. Reduced costs of products, we eliminate middle men who take advantage of bad roads and unavailable basic amenities to exploit farmers, farmers are able to sell directly to their clients at a profit margin of their choice.
