Manpro: Project and Work Monitoring Solution on One Platform
We talked to Zaki Muliawan of Manpro about its project management information system and this is what he said about it.
First of all, how are you and your family doing in these COVID-19 times?
Zaki Muliawan: During this pandemic, our families and us are healthy by taking care of our health with masks, keeping our distance and not crowding. Meetings with clients are conducted online, and in others, we meet face to face but adheres to health protocols.
We hope that this month there will be a vaccine so that the economy will normally run again.
Tell us about you, your career, how you founded Manpro.
Zaki Muliawan: Our background is Architect and has worked for more than 30 years in the construction world, especially project management.
We make software for the benefit of our work, and then it becomes a SAAS startup used by various projects in Indonesia.
How does Manpro innovate?
Zaki Muliawan: All of our innovations are based on our clients’ needs; for example, we are now developing the Internet of things to monitor fuel leaks, rainfall and so on.
We innovate to solve problems in our clients as their solution. In the future, we will develop machine learning to help client decisions. The challenge with innovation is that it fits the user’s needs, and the user can use it based on the cost, product usability and fit to user requirements.
How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?
Zaki Muliawan: During the pandemic, many construction projects stopped, and we got the opportunity to work on non-construction projects and non-construction operations such as the health industry, trade and distribution of government assistance
We are grateful to create customized applications that are easy so that they can be applied to various types of projects and operations in multiple industries.
Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?
Zaki Muliawan: The choice of a startup is always to solve clients’ problems. We always look for problems in our industry and find the best solution even though we are still developing the most appropriate features, but all approaches must satisfy our users. We are choosing what makes our business continue to live by doing whatever is best and beneficial.
Lesson learned always do market research, and market problems are not assumptions.
How do you deal with stress and anxiety?
Zaki Muliawan: Releasing stress is the best method of many good stress management courses on the Internet, such as the Sedona Method, EFT, etc., besides gathering with family and engaging in a hobby.
Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?
Zaki Muliawan: Our Saas is somewhat unique in that it is customizable in the project management of our competitors, such as Aconex and Procore or other collaboration software. We survive the pandemic with collaboration in business operations in addition to projects.
Your final thoughts?
Zaki Muliawan: Focus and joy in business is an important thing. We must create products that add value to the world and benefit everyone who uses our products.
