3D Mobile Mammography Comes to Tampa Bay Thanks to Dr. Ryan Polselli, Saving Lives Through Early Detection of Breast Cancer
It’s no secret that the early detection of cancer can save lives. Patients who receive regular screenings and identify malignancies during stage 1 or stage 2 are much more likely to successfully treat their cancer and survive. And yet, many women forego their annual mammograms for a number of reasons. Fellowship Trained Breast Imaging Radiologist Dr. Ryan Polselli feels so strongly that mammograms should be easier to get, that he took matters into his own hands.
After founding MammoLink, which brings fellowship breast imagers to primary care physicians and OB/GYN offices, Dr. Ryan Polselli decided to simplify the process of receiving a mammogram even more for his patients. He launched his 3D Mobile Mammography service, traveling through the Tampa Bay area by motor coach. Equipped with state-of-the-art 3D mammography, as well as being staffed by technologists who are experienced and certified in 3D Mammography, 3D Diagnostic, and Breast Ultrasound, Dr. Polselli’s bus literally saves lives.
Dr. Polselli’s 3D Mobile Mammography uses only FDA-Approved 3D mammography technology, which is far superior to traditional 2D mammograms. Malignancies that are easily missed with 2D mammography can be clearly seen with Hologic 3D Mammography; on the flip side, lesions that can appear concerning with 2D mammography can be seen as normal with 3D mammography.
While this ultimately leads to more accurate mammogram readings, it also immediately benefits the patient by eliminating the need for a follow-up diagnostic exam while decreasing patient anxiety and costs.
Using 3D mammography technology is extremely important when striving for error-free readings and quick results. 3D mammography produces precise and clear images, including multiple images of each breast from many different angles. This creates a three-dimensional visual of the breast and allows Dr. Polselli to examine the breast tissue one layer at a time. When detected and treated early, breast cancer can be 90%-99% survivable.
How to Find and Use Dr. Polselli’s 3D Mobile Mammography
Patients who would like to schedule a mammogram with the convenience of 3D Mobile Mammography can do so by visiting 3dmobilemammography.com, and clicking on “Schedule.” After selecting the location and date that best works for the patient, they can sign up for an appointment and complete the registration process in the Patient Portal. All necessary links will be texted and emailed to the patient to ensure full access to, and understanding of, the process.
Walk-ons are always welcome on the 3D Mobile Mammography coach but will be asked to wait until after scheduled appointments have been honored first.
The 3D Mobile Mammography coach is fully outfitted with the newest technology as well as all of the comforts and space necessary to make patients feel right at home. Two private changing rooms are provided adjacent to the mammography suite, each with a separate entrance for exams. A large waiting room and a restroom are also available. On board, Dr. Polselli has access to a new Hologic Dimensions 3D Breast Screening and Breast Diagnostic System, a new Mindray Advanced Breast Ultrasound System, and a networking system coupled with innovative SpaceX Starlink technology. All of this means that mammograms can be interpreted immediately, and patients are provided with same-day results in their Portal.
Women who are more than 40 years old do not need a referral for the coach and will have no out-of-pocket expenses for their mammogram. All major insurance plans are accepted, including Medicare.
Why Choose a Fellowship-Trained Breast Imaging Radiologist?
Mammograms are often read and interpreted by a Diagnostic Radiologist, so why is it important that Dr. Polselli is a Fellowship Trained Breast Imaging Radiologist? There are several reasons that this distinction matters.
A Fellowship Trained Breast Imaging Radiologist is a Doctor, who after medical school and residency, chooses to continue their education and training with a fellowship specializing only in Breast Imaging.
This Breast Imaging fellowship includes extensive clinical experience in screening and diagnostic mammography, breast ultrasound, breast MRI, breast pathology, and interventional procedures. This multidisciplinary fellowship has a focus on screening and diagnostic evaluations and image-guided biopsies.
Fellowship Trained Breast Imaging Radiologists must maintain continuing medical education credits to remain proficient in the field, and can often spot abnormalities and problems sooner and with greater precision. They are true experts in their field, which leads to earlier detection and more lives saved.
Dr. Polselli is an innovator and a pioneer in his quest to bring mammograms to the masses. He believes the biggest opportunity for improvement in the field of Breast Imaging currently lies in making breast cancer screening more accessible and convenient to patients. By increasing the quality of mammographic interpretation through the use of fellowship-trained breast imagers on board his 3D Mobile Mammography coach, he is directly contributing to the field that he is so passionate about.
One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, and eight out of nine women who are diagnosed with breast cancer have no family history. A 3D Mammogram can be the single most important factor in surviving this disease. Thanks to Dr. Ryan Polselli, more women than ever have access to this critical new technology.
