The digital frontier is continually expanding, and the importance of Information Technology (IT) infrastructure has never been more apparent. As businesses globally turn to digitization, IT infrastructure has emerged as a critical component in the recipe for success. From Cloud computing to cybersecurity, IT leaders continuously adapt and innovate to keep pace with rapid technological advancements.

In an exploration of this landscape, we spoke with three IT infrastructure experts – Glenn Kemp from Clear Concepts, Ed Anderson from Dyrand Systems, and Robert Giannini from GiaSpace – about the state of the industry and how businesses can successfully navigate these turbulent waters.

Glenn Kemp, a veteran in the field, is an integral part of Clear Concepts, a leading IT consulting firm. He emphasized the power of a robust and reliable IT infrastructure in a digital-first world. “It’s the backbone of any business today,” Kemp explained. “With a well-structured IT infrastructure, companies can function seamlessly, connect globally and adapt to market changes with agility.”

Ed Anderson, a strategist from Dyrand Systems, echoed Kemp’s sentiment, highlighting the role of IT infrastructure in facilitating remote work – a change catalyzed by the recent global health crisis. “A robust IT infrastructure is not just about business continuity anymore,” Anderson stated. “It’s about empowering employees, regardless of where they are. It ensures that geographical boundaries no longer constrain companies.”

As businesses adapt to the new normal, Anderson suggests that organizations should explore adopting a hybrid approach, combining the strengths of traditional and cloud-based infrastructures. This strategy, he explains, will allow businesses to enjoy the best of both worlds, balancing control and flexibility in their operations.

However, the advantages of a robust IT infrastructure are not without their challenges. Robert Giannini from GiaSpace, a renowned IT service provider, highlighted the increasing threats to cybersecurity with the digital shift. “As businesses move online, the potential for cyber-attacks also increases,” Giannini cautioned. “This underlines the need for a sound cybersecurity strategy as part of the IT infrastructure, ensuring businesses can protect their digital assets.”

Giannini also advocated for investing in IT support, particularly for businesses without the luxury of in-house IT expertise. “We’re living in unprecedented technological change,” he said. “While this presents tremendous opportunities, it can also overwhelm businesses. Partnering with an external IT provider can help navigate these complex landscapes, ensuring businesses are equipped to harness the power of technology.”

IT infrastructure’s future seems steeped in flexibility and adaptation, with businesses encouraged to embrace the digital shift and seek partnerships to navigate this change successfully. According to our experts, the focus should be creating a resilient IT infrastructure that responds to evolving business needs and an ever-changing technological environment.

As the digital landscape continues to evolve, the role of IT infrastructure becomes increasingly integral to the success of businesses worldwide. As Kemp, Anderson, and Giannini suggest, businesses must focus on developing an agile, secure, and robust IT infrastructure that can adapt to changing circumstances and help companies thrive in the digital age.
