Travel Therapy: Nine Ways to Pamper Yourself on the Go

The primary reasons behind traveling and vacationing are three: to slow life down & relax, enjoy a change of scenery, and switch gears a little from the norm. We all want to experience life from a different perspective, from a “new set of eyes” if you may. That is why traveling and vacationing, especially abroad, takes a great deal of time, money, and energy to plan and execute.

Unfortunately, many people don’t get the ultimate vacationing experience that they worked extremely hard to prepare for, mainly because they are too scared to let loose and pamper themselves to the maximum. As you plan your next trip, remember not to be like most travelers – be deliberate on spoiling and pampering yourself from the start to the end of your trip. You worked so hard just to get this vacation, so you deserve nothing less than a royal experience.

That being said, how can you pamper yourself during your travels? Here are 9 tips for you:

1. Fly first class

Don’t let anyone deceive you; flying first class has many more perks than the coach and the economy classes combined. That’s from the meals they serve (think of veal chops and filet mignon), the amount of seat room you have, the quality of their beverages, to the stature of your co-passengers… everything is elite in this class.

However, you should know that all “first-class” experiences aren’t equal – some are better than others. Always avoid budget airlines if possible. But even if you can only afford to fly budget airlines, always remember that some budget airlines are better managed than others. Be sure to do your due diligence prior to purchasing your tickets.

2. Book yourself into the best accommodation available

Your royal experience should continue from the plane to the hotel. Always shop for the best possible accommodation for your budget. Don’t settle for a regular vacation home or hotel room. You deserve better than “regular” when on your vacation. If you choose hotel accommodation, choose one of those luxury suites that come with Jacuzzis, serene balcony experiences, skyline views, hot tubs, and first-class room service. If you go the vacation homes route, ensure that the home comes with better amenities and services than you have back at home. Go for homes that come complete with a swimming pool, scenic views, a resident chef, and everything that spells luxury in your life.

3. Rent a car

Pamper yourself with a luxury rental car- a car that best suits the terrain and the roads of your host city/town. This will make everything a lot easier for you compared to when you use public transport.

4. Get yourself some spa experience

Don’t forget to take care of your well-being. Book yourself into one of those fancy wellness resorts and just allow yourself to relax and enjoy. You can get yourself a full-body massage, the peace & quiet of a bubble bath, or enjoy a tranquil afternoon in one of those gorgeous pools. This is a good way to “vacation” within the main vacation- you get to reset your body for an optimal vacationing experience the following day. Check out these fancy spas in Liverpool for when you are vacationing in Merseyside.

Note: Fancy doesn’t have to be pricey. Take your time to research and negotiate for the best possible deals.

5. Go on a shopping spree

For one, you need to buy souvenirs- fancy souvenirs- to bring back home. Your folks will thank you for your fancy gifts when you get back home, plus these souvenirs will constantly remind you of the wonderful time you had on the vacation.

But your shopping shouldn’t end there- you should shop until you drop! Visit as many luxury stores as your budget can allow and treat yourself to a few of those designer brand items. A vacation presents you with a good opportunity to shop for everything you’ve always wanted to buy. It’s the perfect excuse to pamper yourself with something meaningful, something special, something off-the-rails expensive!

6. Unplug

Phones, laptops, iPads, and technology as a whole have taken over our lives. For this reason, not letting technology take over your vacation is one of the most underrated ways of pampering yourself. So, do yourself a favor and put all these devices away. Don’t text anyone, don’t face time, don’t read any emails, don’t check your social media, and don’t surf the web at all. Instead, go sightseeing, immerse yourself in local cultures, and push all the worries out of your mind and life.

7. Stay healthy

Don’t forget to indulge yourself in self-care when traveling. You can visit a yoga studio or join a local meditation camp, for example, as a way of staying fit on the go. You can even take it a notch higher and join ballet or dancing classes in order to learn something new as you keep fit. And if you love to work out, hit the gym (the outdoors make a perfect gym on the go) every day in order to stay happy and healthy.

8. Network & collaborate

Meet new people, learn a new language, make new friends and create new networks. That is one way of keeping your mind happy, healthy, and pampered.

One way of creating new networks and collaborations is renting space in one of those fancy coworking spaces. These spaces are modern-day offices for working people on the go. They provide modern amenities, beautiful architecture, and an amazing platform to network with top-level professionals from around the world. You will get invaluable ideas regarding life in general, business opportunities, and career progression through your interactions with these professionals. You will even meet like-minded people with whom you can form mutually beneficial partnerships later in life. And when it comes to pampering yourself, you can take advantage of the fun activities that these offices offer- from elite workout sessions to fancy luncheon events.

9. Eat good food

Lastly, pamper yourself by eating good and healthy meals in fancy restaurants. Try and sample as many local meals as possible while at it. You know, delicacies that are prepared by renowned local chefs. That will not only keep you healthy but will also elevate you into the elite class of “cultured” individuals. You will have a lot of interesting stories to share over date dinners and roundtable luncheons for many years to come.

Final word

Say goodbye to the monotonous, uneasy, and awkward trips and welcome a super awesome, pampered travel experience every time you go on vacation. Do more, learn more, spend more, and be all-around extra in everything you do because you deserve it all.
