Dr. Patrick Gallus Of Gallus Detox On Why Individuals Deserve A Second Shot At Life
My name is Dr. Patrick Gallus. I founded Gallus Detox because I believe that those dealing with addiction have an opportunity to get the help they need. In recent years, we have seen an uptick in numbers of people checking into detox centers across the country.
Another number we have seen increase was the number of overdose deaths nationwide. In 2021, more than 100,000 have died from a drug overdose. That’s 25,000 more deaths reported from 2020.
If nothing changes, these numbers will go up. If you live in the San Antonio, Texas area and in need of a drug detox center, Gallus Detox will be able to help. More information is available at Gallus Detox’s website.
If there is one person that deserves a second shot at life, it’s someone who wants to beat their addiction. Let’s talk more about why I believe this philosophy.
We’ve lived through our greatest challenge yet
In early 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic gripped the world. It caused the world to shut down almost completely. Many people had to stay at home and it was mentally taxing on a lot of them.
This also exacerbated the problem for those already struggling with addiction. The mental pain of being closed off to the world made it so they needed drugs to cope with the situation. However, those who had no prior addiction were also starting up as a way to ‘kill boredom’ and handle the mental anguish of being trapped.
Even with COVID-19 being fatal to millions around the world, this did not overshadow the seriousness that is overdose related deaths. Those seeking treatment at nearby facilities were able to do so because of the proximity.
However, those living far away from them were unable to travel because of the restrictions. Not to mention, if you were to travel from one state and back, you would need to follow the quarantine rules. Plus, the fear of illness had been fresh in the minds of others.
This was a difficult time for those who needed the help they deserved. Sadly, many people paid the price in terms of their addiction.
If You’re Reading This, You Deserve A Second Chance
If you are reading this and struggling with addiction, I want you to know that you deserve a second chance. The sad part is that a lot of people will live to see themselves get one. At this point, you have two choices.
The first choice is continuing the path you’re on now. You may be one session away from overdosing. It may end up being your last.
It is important for you to take a moment about how far you’re at right now in life. Maybe you have been fired from your job? Or you have relationships that have been strained?
Something may have happened due to your addiction and you’re feeling guilty about it. Whatever that may be, it’s important for you to fix it. But it may be wise to do it under one condition.
First, you have to get started on your journey. A journey where you can beat substance abuse and addiction. This is something that cannot be accomplished overnight.
The process may last a little longer for others. As you begin your journey, you begin to improve yourself in so many areas. Physically, mentally, and emotionally.
It’s important to work on yourself while focusing on repairing the relationships you may have damaged. If you are willing to do your part, hopefully the other person you hurt may be willing to as well. I have heard stories of families being broken up over addiction.
I have heard about marriages on the rocks. I’ve heard about parents not talking to their children. However, when those people decided to get the help they needed, those relationships were restored. Sometimes, this isn’t the case.
If you are fighting addiction right now, it’s never too late to start now. Because when you do start, you have taken the first step in a really important journey. You don’t want to delay or overthink this idea.
The sooner you get started, the better off you will be. It will be a challenge, but you can certainly conquer it if you stick with the plan.
You owe it to yourself
You should consider the fact that you owe it to yourself to start all over again. Because you know that if you decide to get the help you need, you’ll live to tell the stories of addiction. While it may be a shameful part of your life, you can help others get over their addiction and help them write their stories of recovery.
You owe yourself peace of mind. The peace of mind knowing that you won’t be risking your life with every dose of a drug you were once addicted to. It’s a good feeling knowing that when you live a clean lifestyle, your body is a lot healthier.
I may not know who you are. But I can say that I am confident that you will look back and you’ll feel good knowing you’ve made the right decision. You may regret the things that happened during your addiction days.
But you can say to yourself that everything is better than it was in the past. You have no choice but to move forward.
