Create content that people will share

One of the top reasons that marketers and companies fail to succeed with content marketing is because their content is not high-quality.

Content is what helps people get to know you, your business, and your industry, and share it with their networks.

  • Your content should be:
  • Unique and useful.
  • Outstanding and edgy.
  • Presentational and exciting.
  • While this isn’t an exhaustive list, it is a good place to start.

1. Optimize for Visuals

According to a study conducted by Beet.TV, 64% of all internet traffic is now visual. This means that you need to make sure that your content is visually appealing.

Build a community around your content

Once you have the beginnings of a content-marketing program in place, there are a few important questions to ask yourself. What are you publishing? What are the goals of the content? What is the message? Do you have a clear identity? What are you about?

2. But that’s only half the battle.

One of the best ways to grow an audience is to engage with them. That means being willing to try something new and interesting. But that involves actually creating content, creating the community around that content, and making it easy for people to share the content they find helpful or interesting.

The content should tell a story that isn’t obvious at first glance. People need to understand your brand’s goals and be drawn to the story that you’re telling.

Read and listen to your audience’s comments and feedback

A single comment on a single post can be the best way to boost engagement and revenue. It doesn’t have to be marketing talk either, sometimes just reading what people have to say can be the most powerful tool you have at your disposal.

3. Read Up on Your Market

The data can be overwhelming, but you can use a free spreadsheet (we’ll let you use Google Sheets) to create a list of keywords you want to concentrate on, and then do research for your articles to prove the validity of your ideas.

Remember, SEOs will often scour the web for things they can write about to improve their own SEO. Make sure you add your thoughts in as you can add something to what they are doing.

4. Seek Feedback From Leads

Test things out by asking your target audience what they would like to see more of in your blog.

Develop an engaged customer base

That’s probably what you were told at least once before – but perhaps not in the way you imagined it.

If you’ve been on the internet long enough you probably know all the websites that attempt to win you over with email, buy some product, and make you rich in a month or two, but it’s not always that easy.

If your goal is to turn email subscribers into customers, you need to build a solid foundation of trust.

5. Part of that foundation includes content marketing.

But content marketing is not easy, as it requires a lot of focus and investment. And content marketing is not always associated with high returns for online marketers.

Find the most important influencers in your industry

When it comes to content marketing, you’ve got to know your audience. You have to understand who they are and what they want from your website, blog, or social media.

Owl Labs surveyed more than 4,000 marketing professionals to ask them about their content marketing strategies and the most effective methods of reaching their target audiences.

The majority of marketers polled said social media is their favorite method of content marketing. Other popular methods of content marketing included:

  • Newsletters (26%)
  • Email marketing (30%)
  • Paid search (28%)
  • Blog posts (40%)
