LMS (Learning Management System) is defined as the software used for delivering online educational courses and employee training materials, tracking the progress of the learners, and managing resources.

The shift in the work environment due to the pandemic in late 2019, forced companies to think and fetch new methods of corporate learning and training. Hence companies, in order to provide a good and effective onboarding process for their hybrid workforce, decided to take assistance from LMS such as Saba Cloud.

As a result, LMS molded the entire training and learning process for the remote work environment. It was observed that companies that offered training to their employees and invested in an effective onboarding process did not have to sack their employees during the economic crisis of COVID-19.

In fact, there was a profit margin of 24% compared to the ones that avoided any investment for the betterment of their employees’ growth. It was also observed that there has been a rise in the registration of online courses during the pandemic and the number sky-rocketed to 189 million in the year 2022 from 26 million in 2016. The LMS market is said to experience a surge of about $ 37.9 billion by the year 2026 from $ 15.8 billion in 2021.

LMS With Future-Ready Features

Currently, LMS is a potent instrument that is required for every institute, be it corporate or educational. Books and libraries were the only sources of information before the internet rose to dominance and teachers were the only people who could confirm the relevance of the information acquired.

But with the advancement of technology, like an increased usage of cellphones, personal computers, MOOC, etc., learners no longer have limited access to information and knowledge. This is very crucial, particularly for students who must keep up with the rapid breakthroughs in science and technology across all disciplines.

Here are some of the features that a future-ready LMS must possess:

1. Align with the institutional objectives: Any LMS must, at all times, be in line with the educational objectives of your institution. Today’s LMSs offer engaging and interesting ways for users to communicate, work together, and share information. However, the most important thing to anticipate from this is whether or not it will be able to align your learning objectives and strategies with those of your institution.

2. Personalized training: A more deeper learner journey can be outlined by the numerous alternatives for personalized learning provided by AI-powered LMS. Adapting to a personalized digital learning environment was rather difficult before AI.

The recommendation engine of an AI-powered LMS provides a user-focused user interface (UI), with auto filtering of items given to specific learners based on intelligence from user skill sets, and informational bits.

This automatically gathers a wide range of relevant stuff and presents it to its consumers in an articulate way. This feature, where the learner feels satisfied that the content is customized to their knowledge level and requirement, increases learner engagement.

3. Encourages automation: AI algorithm handles resource planning and supply and has the capacity to automate even the challenging human-intervened jobs. An LMS of this type identifies skill gaps and provides targeted assessment and suggestions, relieving admins of manual work.

4. Analytics of  LMS: Data is extracted in order to monitor every piece of information ingested, every minute spent, learner preferences, learner satisfaction, learning progress, learner activeness, etc. Analytics enhances the quality, interactivity, and organization of material through comparisons, analysis, and conclusions taken from graphs and charts.

5. Pedagogy: For the management to design an engaging course, create the materials, and make them available to the students, a decent LMS must offer a design and development tool. Additionally, it must provide incentives for teachers to teach online, such as prizes and salary. The pedagogy tools serve as the main ingredients of an LMS.

Conclusion:

LMS had a healthy impact on the World’s economy during the pandemic crisis without compromising the quality of education and training. Hence, it has raised in popularity over the past decades. LMS makes onboarding, training, and management a lot easier and as a result, the future prospect of LMS is quite hopeful.
