  • Any business importing packaged commodities into India under the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011.

Process for LMPC License

Stepwise process for obtaining LMPC License is as follow:

 

Step 1: At the initial stage of obtaining LMPC license is to determine the jurisdiction – whether state-level or central as per your business location and whether you are importing or manufacturing.

 

Step 2: Gather all the relevant documents. Assure accuracy in product details and labeling formats.

Step 3: Submit the application either offline at the controller of the legal metrology office, or online via its e-portal system. You will need to fill out Form LMPC-I or other designated forms depending on the jurisdiction.

 

Step 4: Once you are done with the application submission, it will go for the verification where the authorities may conduct a site inspection to verify the premises. The inspection can be optional which totally depends on the department.

Step 5: Upon successful review and verification, the Legal Metrology Department issues the LMPC License, typically in 15 to 30 working days.
