Each of us dreams of a good memory. And this is not surprising because we all envied the guys in school and college who memorized the necessary information after the first reading or listening. At the same time, the rest had to learn dates and formulas almost by heart. If you want to maximize the state of your memory, you can build a mnemonic device inside your creation. In this case, you can not only quickly memorize large amounts of information but learn how to manage your memory. You will learn to decide what data is worth storing in long-term memory and what can be thrown away during cleaning.

What Is A Mnemonic Device?

Many probably heard about the palaces of the mind of the famous Sherlock Holmes. Most believe that such a phenomenal memory is fiction and that a person cannot learn how to manage his/her memory.

But in fact, this is not entirely true. Back in antiquity, famous philosophers used the method of loci (today, this technique is also known as mind palace or memory palace) to memorize large amounts of information. For a long time, this method was lost, and only recently have various thinkers begun to revive it again.

Each person can build a small building or castle in his/her mind, where he will store all the necessary information, for example, in a closet on a shelf or under a bed. When you realize that you no longer need this data, then you do the cleaning and throw away everything superfluous. At first glance, this sounds like a fantasy, but hundreds of people worldwide have already mastered this method and appreciate its benefits.

How To Build A Mnemonic Device?

Building a mnemonic device requires some effort and patience. Do not think you can master this technique in one day or even a week. For many, it takes a long time. Today we want to discuss several methods to speed up this process.

So, if you want to build a memory palace, then you need to follow specific steps:

  1. Think about what kind of building you want inside your mind. At the initial stage, it should be something as simple and familiar as possible, for example, the house in which you live now or where you grew up.
  2. Select the information you want to remember. It should also be something as simple as a phone number or date of birth.
  3. Put this information in a specific place, for example, on the nightstand next to the bed.
  4. Try to come back here after a while and check if the necessary information is stored here.

Don’t expect to get it right the first time. Often this takes a lot of time.

To speed up the construction of the mnemonic device, we recommend using the optional memoryOS mobile app. It was created with the help of two-time memorization champion Jonas von Essen specifically to help build the mind palace. This mobile application works in two main areas – improving imagination and memory at the same time. It allows you to achieve outstanding results.

Among the main advantages of memoryOS are:

  • Ability to train at any convenient time and place;
  • Lots of 3D models;
  • Enjoyable learning;
  • Orientation for clients;
  • Simplicity in management.

Before you start training, the system will ask you to take a short test to check your memory status at an early stage. Based on the data received, the program will select an individual training program based on your strengths and weaknesses.

Please train every day for 20-30 minutes. Practice shows that if you miss at least once, it will negatively affect the result. It is also worth saying that the best results can be achieved if you are engaged in a relaxed atmosphere, not distracted by anything in the evening. Studies show that during the process of falling asleep, the part of the brain that is responsible for imagination is more activated.

We also advise you to reconsider your lifestyle – stop drinking alcohol, switch to a healthy diet, and monitor your sleep and work patterns, as this positively affects brain function.
