Any business must maintain a living presence on social media in the modern era. Modern customers turn to Instagram and Facebook for core business information and updates. So how does one keep their social media profile present in the minds of potential customers? A few key pieces of advice can help lighten the load.

1. Don’t Do All The Work

Social media doesn’t have to add to your job description! These days, social media managers are on staff for businesses of all industries. If you can hire a professional, this is always a great option. These folks have the training and experience to know how to generate content but also think about elements that aren’t as obvious, like post timing and subject matter. Consider it seriously if you can afford to outsource this part of the job.

2. Use The Tools On Hand

If you manage your own social media, it’s important to still present a polished appearance in your posting. Using post templates from a company like MustHaveMenus will take the guesswork out of social media post design – just grab the most applicable design for your subject, apply your info, and post! Managing social media can be tough, but there’s no reason to start from graphic design and work your way up. Professionals have already got you covered, and you’ll be glad you did later.

3. Plan Ahead

There are all kinds of reasons to make social media posts. Is your business having a sale or special? Is there a big event coming up? Is there a regular promotion that your die-hard customers chomp at the bit to get to? Look at your calendar in advance and note what you will want posts ready for. Then, take a day and make all your posts up at once. By digging in and being prepared, you won’t have to sweat the details of self-promotion in the moment; you can just pull your prepared material out of your back pocket and throw it up as needed.

4. Spread The Word

It’s inarguable that day-to-day business is unpredictable. Personal and professional emergencies crop up, or circumstances change suddenly. If you need to close or modify operations for a short period, your social media should be the first place you turn. By posting live updates on the functions of your business – positive or otherwise – you keep your loyal customers informed and save them frustrations. They’ll appreciate being kept in the loop and will count this as a mark in your favor the next time they plan to use the services you offer.

5. Don’t Sweat the Net

If you try to master the ins and outs of social media completely overnight, you will make yourself a nervous wreck. There are many nuances to managing your social media and driving engagement, and you’re not going to speak that language immediately. Think ahead, manage things as you can, and don’t beat yourself up over things that don’t work the way you wish they did. Just keep going, keep active, and you’ll be a social media wizard in no time. Good luck!
