Apple released iOS 27 on September 14, 2026, and with it came Siri AI, a rebuilt Siri that understands personal context, answers questions about what is on your screen and can act inside apps. It is still labeled a beta, and the first thing most owners want to know is simple: which iPhones get Siri AI?

The answer is shorter than the iOS 27 list. Siri AI runs on the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, every iPhone 16 and iPhone 17 model, the iPhone Air, the iPhone 18 Pro models and the upcoming iPhone Duo. iOS 27 itself installs on phones as old as the iPhone 11 and the second-generation iPhone SE, but those models get the new design and speed improvements without the new assistant.

Siri AI compatible iPhones

  • iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max
  • iPhone Duo (on sale October 23, 2026)
  • iPhone 17, iPhone 17e, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max
  • iPhone Air
  • iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16e, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max
  • iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max

Your device language and Siri language must be set to the same supported language, and availability varies by region. One feature asks for more: Apple’s support page says expressive voices, which let you adjust Siri’s pace and tone, require the AFM Core Advanced on-device model found in the iPhone Air, the iPhone 17 Pro models and the iPhone 18 Pro models.

iOS 27 runs on older iPhones, without Siri AI

Apple’s iOS 27 page lists more than 30 compatible iPhone models. These run iOS 27 but cannot use Siri AI or Apple Intelligence:

  • iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus
  • iPhone 14, 14 Plus, 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max
  • iPhone 13 mini, 13, 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max
  • iPhone 12 mini, 12, 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max
  • iPhone 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max
  • iPhone SE (second generation and later)

If your phone is on this list and you want the new Siri, a newer model is the only route. The least expensive options are the iPhone 16e and iPhone 17e. AppleBitcoin’s iPhone category, for example, listed them at $529 and $539 at the time of writing, with the iPhone 17 at $629 and the iPhone 17 Pro at $809, payable in more than 30 cryptocurrencies.

iOS 27 and Siri AI by the numbers

  • September 14, 2026: the day Apple released iOS 27 and began rolling out Siri AI as a beta in English.
  • Five more languages in October: Apple said Siri AI support for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish would follow in October 2026.
  • 16 languages for Apple Intelligence: Apple’s September 9, 2026 announcement lists 16 supported languages, from English and Spanish to Japanese, Korean, Turkish and both forms of Chinese.
  • Up to 30 percent faster app launches: Apple’s August 2026 tests on an iPhone 11 Pro Max found app launches up to 30 percent faster on iOS 27 than on iOS 26.6. Apple also cites photos loading up to 70 percent faster and AirDrop transfers up to 80 percent faster.
  • 24 percent would upgrade sooner: a UBS Evidence Lab survey of more than 7,500 smartphone users, reported on July 1, 2026, found 24 percent willing to upgrade sooner for Apple Intelligence and the new Siri, down from the previous survey, while 31 percent were indifferent.
  • Memory costs up nearly 300 percent: IDC said on July 13, 2026 that memory costs had risen nearly 300 percent in a year, and it linked Apple’s record second quarter partly to buyers’ fear of upcoming price hikes.

How to turn on Siri AI

  1. Update to iOS 27 in Settings, then General, then Software Update.
  2. Open Settings, tap Siri, then tap Try Siri AI (Beta). If Siri is off, turn it on first.
  3. Pick a voice, complete voice enrollment and review the privacy settings.
  4. Wait for your place on the waitlist. Siri AI downloads automatically when your turn comes, and wait times vary.

Should you upgrade your iPhone for Siri AI?

Upgrade for Siri AI only if the assistant solves a real problem for you, such as finding details buried in messages and email or drafting text by voice. If you own an iPhone 14 or older, your battery and camera are probably due for an upgrade anyway, so Siri AI becomes one more reason rather than the only one.

  • iPhone 15 Pro, or any iPhone 16 or newer: no need to buy anything. Update and join the waitlist.
  • iPhone 15 or 15 Plus: the closest miss. An iPhone 16e or 17e adds Siri AI for the least money.
  • iPhone 13 or 14: an iPhone 17 is the balanced choice, with every Siri AI feature except expressive voices.
  • Heavy AI users: choose an iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone Air or iPhone 18 Pro to get every Siri AI feature, expressive voices included.

Frequently asked questions

Does the iPhone 15 get Siri AI?

No. The standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus run iOS 27 but cannot use Siri AI. Only the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max from that generation are supported.

Does the iPhone 11 get iOS 27?

Yes. iOS 27 supports the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max, along with the second-generation iPhone SE and later. These phones get the faster app launches and design refinements, but not Siri AI or Apple Intelligence.

How do I get Siri AI on my iPhone?

Update a compatible iPhone to iOS 27, then go to Settings, tap Siri and choose Try Siri AI (Beta). You join a waitlist, and Siri AI downloads automatically when it is ready.

Why is there a waitlist for Siri AI?

Siri AI is still in beta, and Apple asks users to join a waitlist after they opt in. Its support page says wait times vary, and the download starts on its own once your turn comes.

Which iPhone is best for Siri AI?

The iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone Air and iPhone 18 Pro models support every Siri AI feature, including expressive voices. If you only need the core assistant, any iPhone 16 or 17 model works.

The bottom line

Siri AI is an entirely new version of Apple’s assistant, but it needs an iPhone 15 Pro or newer. Check your model against the lists above before you buy anything. If your phone is not supported and you planned to replace it within a year anyway, a recent model such as the iPhone 17 brings Siri AI with it, and stores from Apple to crypto retailers like AppleBitcoin stock the current range.
