wallet and smartphone

The hardware wallet developed by eSignus brings together the management of thousands of digital assets, multiple private keys, and a recovery system to regain access without giving up self-custody.

Hashwallet, the card-shaped hardware wallet developed by Spanish cybersecurity company eSignus, supports the management of more than 11 000 digital assets. Its technology also includes a recovery system that protects access to funds if the card gets lost or damaged.

Separated seeds protect user privacy

Hashwallet includes a multiseed feature that lets users manage multiple independent seeds from a single card and app account. Each seed derives its own set of addresses from a separate origin, so they are not mathematically connected.

This protects users’ privacy by allowing them to separate funds by purpose: savings, day-to-day movements, dApp management, etc., so their financial activity is not all linked.

A self-custody recovery without surrendering the keys

To request a backup card, the user must first authenticate in the app using the security mechanisms linked to their account. The backup card arrives with the first recovery element already inside it, but without the private key. When the user initializes the card, the second recovery element is retrieved from the Backup Center, decrypted inside the chip, and processed together with the first element to regenerate the key inside the chip.

A secure chip built to protect private keys

Hashwallet contains an EAL6+ certified chip where private keys are generated and stored, and transactions are signed. The keys never leave the chip, and the firmware has no command to reveal or export them. It also can’t be updated, so no malicious update can create backdoors. New networks and features arrive through the app, without touching the firmware that protects them.

It has the format of a standard payment card (86 x 54 mm), IP68 water resistance, and works with NFC-enabled Android and iOS phones.

Key security and usability features include

  • Broad compatibility: Support for more than 11,000 digital assets, including the Qubic ecosystem.
  • Privacy without KYC requirements: The key or card recovery process does not require users to provide personal identification documents.
  • Protection against loss: If users lose their phone, they can log in on a new device and scan their card to regain access to their funds. If the card is lost, the seed can be restored on a new backup card.
  • No access to users’ private keys: Neither the hardware itself nor eSignus has the commands or technical capability to access users’ private keys.

eSignus, the technology behind Hashwallet

eSignus is a Spanish cybersecurity company specialized in self-custody and hardware-based protection for digital assets. In addition to developing Hashwallet, eSignus offers Hardware Wallet as a Service, a solution that allows other organizations to integrate hardware-based self-custody technology into their own products and services under their own brand.
