A Guide to Stand Out on TikTok as a Content Creator

According to the Independent, TikTok took over Google to become the most popular website in the world.
The popularity attracts a lot of content creators who want to find success on TikTok and become an influencer or promote an already existing brand. Unfortunately, breaking into TikTok is not that easy, even for relatively small niches.
At the very least, aspiring TikTokers should create a solid foundation and work on building their TikTok profile from there.
Keep Up With the Trends
Let’s start with trends. Short videos do not require a lot of time to film and upload, so whenever there is a new trend on TikTok, many people join in on it. Some do it for the sake of fun, while others wish to add their own twist and go viral.
Take dancing, for example. As far as challenges and trends go, dancing is one of the most popular types of content on TikTok.
Instead of simply dancing in your room, you could find an unusual location and film yourself dancing there. Who knows, you might be one of the first to offer this approach to the trend, and other TikTokers will start copying you.
Note that trends come and go fast, so you need to jump at an opportunity and participate before the trend disappears.
Considering how massive TikTok is, keeping up with and identifying every trend is virtually impossible. Focus on what you find relevant in relation to the type of content you publish on TikTok.
Add Some Flair to Your Videos
TikTok videos are not complex, considering how few editing options the application offers. Sure, some TikTokers work on editing videos on their computers before publishing the content on the platform, but you might not have enough time for that. Especially when you have to quickly jump at the next trend and publish your video as soon as possible.
Having said that, you should still try to make your video more interesting. TikTok offers certain editing options, such as filters and effects. Adding elements like stickers and text works as well. You can even use a font generator to try some custom fonts for your text on the videos.
The editing does not have to be too intricate but aim to optimize the videos to have them stand out a bit more than usual.
Offer Value to Viewers
Offering value to viewers is a popular approach to growing on TikTok. Even though TikTok videos are short, you can still come up with some neat ideas.
Video guides and tutorials are great examples. You can find plenty of makeup artists, for instance, publishing short makeup tutorials. Someone who is well-versed in traveling can also create a series of short videos covering various tips for new travelers.
The point is to think of an idea and turn it into short bits that you can publish over time. Creating an entire series and keeping up quality can be tricky, but it is doable. By starting a series of valuable videos, you will gain traction and notice engagement from viewers. Followers on TikTok will look forward to your next video, and they will be eager to witness a conclusion to the series if you plan to have one.
Establish a Schedule
Posting consistently on TikTok is a must if you want to continue growing your account and attracting more followers.
Ideally, you should plan ahead and know what your content calendar looks like weeks, if not months, in advance.
Unfortunately, such an approach does not work for everyone, especially when their content depends on outside factors, such as global events or trends occurring on TikTok.
If you cannot produce and publish enough videos to have something for your viewers every day, find a schedule that works. One or two videos per week are enough, especially if you focus on quality.
Collaborate With Others
Collaborations that benefit both parties are a great way to gain traction on social media platforms, including TikTok.
Let’s say that you are someone who publishes videos on a healthy lifestyle. Diet, workout routines, and the benefits of having a good sleeping schedule are examples of what your content could revolve around.
You could partner up with other TikTokers who are in a similar niche. A collaboration video series that covers various tips from both channels will add more variety to the content, not to mention value if both of you put work into creating the videos.
Sharing videos among each other’s audiences will lead to new followers. So long as the audiences of two collaborating TikTok channels are not overlapping, the collaboration should be beneficial and make each content creator stand out on TikTok More.
