What is the Motif of the 2021 German 2 Euro Coin?
The 2021 German 2 Euro coin is dedicated to the federal state of Sachsen-Anhalt. Hence the name of the coin. This state is located in the center of the country and its capital is the city of Magdeburg.
The existence of the state of Sachsen-Anhalt has been marked by a certain irregularity. It was created as a state on July 21, 1947, through the union of several Prussian provinces. Then it was dissolved during the period of the German Democratic Republic (communist Germany) and after the fall of the Berlin Wall it was reestablished on October 3, 1990.
The design of the coin features the monument that, according to many historians, can be considered the most representative of the state, the Magdeburg Cathedral.

Magdeburg Cathedral was built between 1209 and 1520. It is a masterpiece of world, and especially European, architecture. The recognition comes, above all, for being one of the tallest cathedrals in Germany and the first Gothic cathedral in the country.
Explanation of the design of the coin of SACHSEN-ANHALT
In the design, as said before, it shows the Magdeburg Cathedral, the first Gothic style cathedral built in Germany.
Importantly, the inner side bears the name “SACHSEN-ANHALT” (Saxony-Anhalt) and, at the bottom, the issuing country code “D”. Each coin bears the mint mark of the corresponding mint where it was minted (“A”, “D”, “F”, “G” or “J”). We can also see on this side the year of issue “2021” on the left side and the engraver’s mark on the right side. The coin’s circular crown features the twelve stars of the European flag.
How many 2 euro SACHSEN-ANHALT coins were minted?
In total, 30 million 477 thousand German 2-euro coins were minted in 2021, distributed among different types of presentation and finishing. The largest volume of pieces was intended for circulating, while a smaller amount was prepared for offering to collectors of this type of coins.
The prices of each presentation vary according to different criteria.

How difficult is it to get the Germany 2021 2 Euro coin?
The 2021 German coin is already a few months old, so it is quite easy to get it in numismatic stores, such as Filatelia Lopez or others.
Given the wide mintage of the 2 euro Germany 2021 coin, it is not unusual to find one in circulation. Evidently it is more feasible to get them for German citizens than for collectors from other latitudes.
Actually, it is a beautiful coin, but quite common, so we cannot include this specimen among the most demanded and valuable 2 euro coins. For this reason I would say that there will not be a great demand for it in the short or medium term.
Curiosities about the German 2 euro coin 2021
There are not many aspects to highlight about the 2021 German 2-euro coin, except that it is the most recent issue of the Bundesländer series started in 2006.
On the other hand, the design of the coin was the result of a competition to which several interesting proposals were submitted, among which Michael Otto’s was the winner. The other finalists in the competition were Björn Bernt (2nd place), Anke Oltscher, Eva-Maria Mandok and Melissa Glanz.
